BILLYsobx Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I love flouro-carbon but have problems with twist on spinning reel. I tryed it about 5 yrs ago and it twisted right away. I have no problem with line twist when I use mono. I rarely go above 10#. I use 50# braid now for dingy water or heavy cover. I would like to use flouro-carbon when in clearer water around cover. I know all the tricks mentioned in the other post. If I take the spool off and re-spool will that help? Also I own Team Daiwa Tierra reels in the 2500 series if I went up to the 3000 the bigger spool would probably help right. But I don't want that extra weight. I am a berkley vanish and transition user. I would be willing to switch if that helps but really don't want to. I would like to be able to use 12# sometimes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love Stren mono and sonic braid but haven't tryed 100% Flouro or Flouro-Cast are they good and which one is best? Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted May 1, 2011 Super User Posted May 1, 2011 Drop Vanish. Worst line out there IMO. Any other line should suffice, but I would recommend Seaguar InvizX in 6 or 8 # Quote
BassThumb Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 If you want to be able to use 12# fluoro on a spinning reel, you'll have to use braid with a 12# leader. Any time I've put fluoro over 8# on a spinning reel, I've had some issue with twist, memory, and birdnests. Even soft 10# fluoro is too heavy, IMO. More trouble than it's worth. Have you tried Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultrasoft? 4-8# test work very well on spinning tackle and the line is very strong. The 6# is just about perfect. Quote
joshholmes Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 stren flourocast is way weaker than other fluoros and i havent tried regular stren flouro . i use trilene 100% professional grade fluoro when im using fluorocarbon. just make sure to drag the line behind the boat to get rid of the memory Quote

As far as flouro leader to braid goes I guess I am still a novice to using a leader for bass. I have been bass fishing since I was old enough to remember and have only used one line from reel to lure except c-rigging. I told myself last week that I needed to attempt this. I have had no problem with 8 # and less flouro but I wanted use some heavier in some situations. My Vanish 8 # works great with little twist. I have seen the knot on the forums before but need the name please and I guess 6 ft of leader or what is normal. I have had no problems with vanish but I will explore everyones options. I am stubborn when it comes to trying new equipment if I am happy with what I use. So I guess I'll try Yo Zuri and Seaguar and maybe next weekend you'll see my post on finally switching Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 2, 2011 Super User Posted May 2, 2011 Can't beat Invizx but YoZuri is an excellent option if you don't want to spend too much $$$. Definitely keep it under 8 lbs or you're asking for trouble. Quote
jeb2 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I've tried Invisx and two types of Sunline pure FC on my spinners, including my Stella. All in 6 or 8 lb test. It's all fine and dandy if you just throw lures that don't twist the line, like hard jerkbaits. But start fishing soft baits and it's not long until it's a huge mess. It's just not worth the hassle to me anymore, so I use Pline Flouroclear now, which is an FC coated line. Very well behaved line. Quote
Quillback Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I've been using 10# Invisix on spinning tackle and it's worked fine for me. Compare line diameters, Invisix is small diameter stuff compared to most other brands. I've found smaller diamter is better for spinning reels when using floro. For example 10# Invisix is .010" and 6 lb Yozuri ultrasoft is .010". So same diameters but different break points. Now this is assuming there manufactures have properly weighted their break strenghts. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 2, 2011 Super User Posted May 2, 2011 6# Invizx on a 2500 size Shimano reel, and some KVD L&L Conditioner works great for me. My avatar was caught using that gear. Quote
