SGT Rico Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I am somewhat new to this swimjig thing. My question is, can a chatterbait swivel or whatever that metal piece that connects the blade to the string handle braid? Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted May 1, 2011 Super User Posted May 1, 2011 Sure, why wouldn't it? Quote
SGT Rico Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Sure, why wouldn't it? If braid can striaghted out a hook, why not that small gauge wire. Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 1, 2011 Super User Posted May 1, 2011 Yes. May I suggest tieing a snap onto your braid, mono or fluoro and then attaching the snap onto the line tie. Also, may I suggest sharpening the Chatterbait's hooks as the ones on the jig may need some help in getting sharper. Add a trailer hook, too. And a trailer to give it some bulk. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 1, 2011 Global Moderator Posted May 1, 2011 I fish them around grass alot so braid is usually my line of choice. The only problem I've had is the snap coming open when a fish hits. Never lost a bait yet but a little heavier snap would probably help. I always fish them with a trailer but never a trailer hook, I don't get near as many bites and it hangs up in the weeds a lot worst. Quote
SGT Rico Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Thanks guy's, I am looking foward to trying out these new tactics I just learned!! Quote
Blues19 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Ive made some of my own using old altoid can lids. The ones ive made seem to give off even more action and have not broken at all. good baits! Quote
KC Bass Fanatic Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I only fish them on braid and never had a problem. SUPER SECRET: Use a 10" power worm as a trailer. Not joking - it's deadly. Quote
