I caught this bass yesterday over here on Long Island. I feel the pic looks deceiving, I know how big it is because I weighed it but I just want to see how big it looks to someone who doesn't know how much it weighs.

I would guess somewhere around 5.5-6

So, how much does the fish weigh? Pictures are deceiving, there's nothing to compare the fish to if we don't know how tall you are but I can tell you that you need to hold a fish that size like a man. Look, your wrist is limp in one of those pictures, :). I have pictures of my 5'1" wife holding a 3.5# bass and it looks like a 5 pounder cause she's so petite and because I'm 6'2" with large hands when I hold a fish it doesn't look too big. The fish in my avatar was a 4.5# trash fish but it looks so small.

To me that looks like a 5.5-6# fish but it looks like it's full of eggs and been around the buffet a little too much so it might be 6.5-7# lmb.

There is no way any of us are going to guess the exact weight of your fish unless you tell us the length and girth of the fish and we'll probably get somewhere close.

The fish was 7lbs even....

Darnit ! I was going to guess 6-7 !

BTW, if you want to take fish photos where the fish looks as big as it did in real life, you don't need to show that much space over your head, and you don't need to show your feet at all, let alone space in front of them.

Also, on vertical shots, if you hold the fish up higher (closer to your chin) you can crop the shot even more, without chopping the fishes tail.

Another thing, on horizontal shots, the camera should be held horizontally.

Finally, even though you were holding the fish, and somebody else was taking the shot (I'm assuming) you can still direct the shot ! Tell them, "NO ! You are not close enough ! All you need to see in that viewfinder, is the top of my head, and the bottom of the fishes tail" ! {people ALWAYS try to back away.... urggggg !} You can even tell them, "Don't move" ! Then you get as close as you know you should be to the camera. Most of the time, this is when the fish is about 3 to 4 feet away from it.

In any case, nice catch ! Congrats :)

Peace,

Fish

7 even, thats a nice pig good job on your catch. I would have said 7-7.5 only because the tip of the index finger is about an inch to the first nuckle. I was counting the length of the fish. I guss 20-21 inches long.

I was going to say 7 just because of the obvious girth of the fish. It only looks long enough to be about 5 but that thing is a tank from head to tail! Nice fish!
