BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 30, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 30, 2011 Friends - BassResource.com staff writer Don Barone just sent me this message: ...my cell phone is dead...my computer has 23 mins of power left...my wifi is blinking red...there is no power here, some places have no water. The National Guard are patrolling the streets and have helicopters in the air....no one can get gas because the pumps don't work...they can't get money because the ATM's don't work...food in the grocery stores has gone bad...no stores are open because of no power...no traffic lights...no street lights...only the sound of the occasional generator but they are going silent without fuel.Schools are closed...every church in town has been hit...most destroyed. Everyone has to cook otside...showers are hard to find and then the water is cold...no heat unless heated by gas. There are cloths hanging from trees...I saw a John Deere tractor up in a tree...the cell towers are bent in circles...the little league field is destroyed. I would send photos, I have them but can't get the internet long enough to upload them. The people...the people....many are just walking around like zombies....THERE ARE PEOPLE HERE IN SHOCK AND NEED MEDICAL HELP. There are trees everywhere THEY NEED CHAINSAWS. Families have lost everything one lady told me her baby doesn't even have a baby bottle and their cars are upside down in a creek. If you can would you please just post this email if it makes it to you...these people need help...and it is like we are on another planet...this county is hosed...but the rest of America sits around it...please tell them to do whatever they can to help these folks...AND YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE DRIVING IN HERE IN YOUR CARS AND GAWKING AT THESE POOR PEOPLE STOP IT...YOU ARE TYING UP THE ROADS...AND YOU ARE MAKING THE PEOPLE YOU ARE GAWKING OUT FEEL LIKE MONKEYS AT THE ZOO...especially the children...quit being morons and stay out unless you are bring something to help. When I ask what they need they all say, chain saws and people who know how to use them. I hope yo get this, my wifi is going dead, as is my computer. I will try and file my story "A Field Of Tears" once I get out of here, but that seems like a crappy thing to do...just leave these people...and the people who will be staying in my RV...they have hardly anything yet they just tell me, "My stuff is out yonder there," and then point to a field strewn with debris. I don't think I have any tears left, db Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 30, 2011 Super User Posted April 30, 2011 The tornados are worse than a hurricane. At least we get early warnings about hurricanes. Awful situation across the South. Looks like a war zone. Thoughts and prayers to everyone touched by this tragedy. Quote
preach4bass Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Mercy. We're praying for everyone effected. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted May 1, 2011 Super User Posted May 1, 2011 "The people...the people....many are just walking around like zombies"....I talked with some friends of mine who were caught up in it on their way south, this is exactly how they described it. Such devastation, my best for those that made it and my sympathies for those that didn't. Quote
unageo09 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 It's real bad in so many place. In my area Phil Campbell and Hackleburg up to Mount Hope, Moulton, the outskirts of Decatur to up north of Huntsville. The horror stories coming out of Phil Campbell and Hackleburg are so heartbreaking. Families being killed, children plucked from their parents arms, and it goes on. If you can donate anything please do. I've already sent six cases of water down to Hackleburg and plan on going down and trying to help in the clean up effort when they allow the volunteers to come into the area. They did find some survivors today! They were clearing out a ravine and heard cries for help. So, there is still hope! Quote
