zachb34 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 hey all, I am new to this forum although ive been looking and reading some of these topics this is my first one so anyways back to the fishing Ive recently taken a liking to crankbaits especially the strikeking series 3 while fishing a large pond today I decided to switch to a brighter color and on my fourth cast i heard a large crack i assumed it was my line breaking but wasnt to alarmed because I could see the lure near the shore so I reeled up my line and realized my line wasnt broken but my lure was broken in half not along the back but vertically so has anyone had this problem? should I contact strikeking? Super User bilgerat Posted April 30, 2011 Super User Posted April 30, 2011 I e mailed Strike King twice about a minor issue I had with some of their cranks (not a breakage issue though) Never got a reply to either of them. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 30, 2011 Super User Posted April 30, 2011 Never had it happen. Can you return it to the retailer for another one? I hit rocks with my cranks and only have broken off the bills. Hope the retailer can help you. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 30, 2011 Global Moderator Posted April 30, 2011 I've seen them look like that when co-anglers smash them into outboard motors on the cast , or bounced off rocks. Strike King makes good baits though and they aren't expensive, just buy another. 1 Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted April 30, 2011 Super User Posted April 30, 2011 Freak happening ,you must have smashed it on something when it hit the water , never had one break like that. Quote
Quillback Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Send it back to Strike King, they may replace it and give you some other free stuff. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 30, 2011 Super User Posted April 30, 2011 Every single time I've ever busted a crankbait, there was operator error involved. You might try sending it back to Strike King. You might get some free stuff. You might not. Depends on how good a cover letter you write. The only thing you'll be out is your time and postage. Quote
Five-Alive Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 The only one I have had trouble breaking (that didn't involve operator error) has been the Rapala Fat DT-3 and I have had 3 of these baits to break off right behind the bill where it meets the balsa. Quote
fishnabarrel Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Sometimes large companies are not the best with customer service or response time, if you took it to the dealer and explained the situation they might help you Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 It's a $4 bait, toss it and buy another. That dosen't look like SK's fault, I could see if it split in the seam or something. Quote

Hmm.... The only time I've ever broken a balsa bait at the lip was when I slapped it on the water to clean weeds off the trebles. If anyone does that, it IS operator error. Not accusing you, just saying... Quote
