quanjig Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 It's been a very hectic start to my year at work and fishing is a true stress reliever. When you guys go to the beach or vacation to get away from it all, do you incorporate fishing into it or does vacation mean do absolutely nothing but plunk your arse in a chair and take it all in?? srv1990 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I do two vacations: one is a fishing trip with some buddies to Table Rock Lake; the other is the family vacation to the Fort Walton Beach area of Florida. We usually go with some other families, and several of the guys do a deep-sea fishing outing one day. The rest of the time, it's ice cold beverages by the pool or beach all day, every day! Quote

Pretty much the same here. There's a group of of about 6 of us guys that go away every June. Most of them golf, I fish 12 hours a day. Then my wife and two daughters go to Wildwood, NJ for a week in August. The beach and boardwalk are within walking distance from the motel. I bring a rod with me but rarely use it. Can't surf fish during the day there, too many people on the beach and they'll stop you immediately. You can sneak on at night, most beach cops don't hassle a 46 year old family guy as long as I promise not to leave any hooks or terminal tackle in the sand. Really no fish worth catching anyhow, occasional spots, kingfish and tons of sand sharks. Night time is for drinking on the balcony and chilling out. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 29, 2011 Super User Posted April 29, 2011 My parents have a home on the beach up in Kennebunkport, ME, so I go every weekend and if time allows (I'm in construction) I'll take a week. Their neighbor is an avid fisherman so we try an get out at night to hit the tide for stripers. Usually we hit it 2 hours before and 2 hours after. By August, you can get on them during the day in which my kids will play in the surf while I fish. There's not a lot of public parking, so the beach is never over crowded, except for Labor Day and 4th of July when a lot of families tend to congregate. Biggest striper off the beach was 49". 20's - mid 30's are the norm. Quote
