I bought a mid 90's clean Suzuki 9.9hp from a older fella last season. I noticed on the motor is has some kinda small electrical hook up/plug it looks like...anyone know what that is used for? Tried doing a lil research and came up with nothing.

Could it be a trickle charger ?

Is it a pull start or electric start? I have a 15hp Johnson that can be either. It has the obvious pull cord but there is also red and black cables that come off the side of the motor that can be hooked up to be electric start. I've never tried to use the electric start so I have no idea how to go about it. Not sure if that's what it might be on your motor but just throwing it out there.

Sounds like it could be a hookup for elec. start. You probably have an open space for the starter solenoid as well

yes its a pull start...i was thinking also some type of trickle charge but was not for sure. I took a pic tonight with my cell to give better idea but not the best pic bc from cell and it was dark had to use flashlight. It has a cap that goes over plug when not in use...the pic is with cap off.
