Luke at Gouldsboro Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I've been skilled in art since birth and when I see people's hand painted lures here, I want to do it myself. I've always wanted to paint my own hardbaits, but just wondering if the expense of everything is worth it? Also, where can I find unpainted hardbaits (cranks, jerkbaits, lipless)? Thanks. Quote
BIG M Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 The short answer from me is YES. Unpainted bodies from Jann's, Barlow's, Lure parts online, and several others. This is an addiction without a cure, just trying to warn you. Quote
Fishwhittler Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Building and/or painting your own baits is certainly worth it in my opinion. I've spent more on lure building and painting supplies than I would have just buying lures, but if I had to do it over I'd still build lures. Predator Bass Baits and Bustin Bass Baits both have a wide selection of lure blanks. Quote
lip ripson Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I agree with the last replys. I just started making and painting my own and cant seem to get enough of it. If you are skilled in the art feild you will be into it im sure. I too am an artist. One thing is for sure, that when you tie on something you did yourself and catch a fish, its a feeling that you wont know unless you do it. I say go for it. Quote
