Reel_Kaotic Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I had a great time out Sandy. We only pulled in 3 bass, but the scenery was the best. We got out just as the rain started. I can see why it's a bass heaven. We're looking forward to going back...very soon. Here's one of the fish I caught. Quote
Tallent88 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 nice what it weigh about 2.5 3 we need to hook up and fish Pocahontas hard one day and then run out to sandy i wanna go out there with another crew so f something crazy goes wrong buddy ripping lips caught a 7.3 out there today on a mad max frog crazzzy fight got stuck on brush twice didnt bring my cam becouse rain was in the forcast so he was mad we didnt get any pics but we will get another one i was suprised there where fish that big out there Quote
Reel_Kaotic Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Pocahontas is sleeper. There are huge bass out there. We can definitely get up and hit both locations. I didn't weight the fish, but I would say it was close to it. Pocahontas may be on the radar for next weekend. I have some new spro frogs I'm dying to use and some old ribbits for backups. As for Sandy, seems like every spot you looked at housed a bass. Quote
Rippinglips Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Nice bass looks like bass havven out there lol Quote
Tallent88 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Your a jig man now huh you bn snagging some fish with them jigs Quote
Reel_Kaotic Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Bass heaven! I'm loving jigs now. All the bass we caught, all were on swim jigs and trailers. Letting the jigs swim and then die every few feet. Since that day out powhatan, I've been hooked on using jigs and using them a lot now. Yesterday, I threw a spinnerbait for the first time this year. Quote
hookingem Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I told you about the frog..... good fish congrats! Quote
Reel_Kaotic Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Thanks...I'm hitting them with the Spro's next time, veggies should be fully blown in a couple weeks. Jigs will be in the back pocket to follow up. Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 we got out about 715am fished till 1pm caught about 15 bass between us both. Most of ours came off soft plastics, couple off cranks. My buddy was catching his mainly off t-rigged lizards. I caught most mine off wacky rig and 2 off cranks. Buddy caught biggest off lizard at about 4lbs. Turned out to be nice day other then wind picking up making white caps on main lake. 1 Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 gonna hit it up in the morning for about half day!! Quote
luv2fish33 Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Nice catch there Kaotic1 the fist time there at sandy was enough to get me hooked on that place. Now all I need to do is get my own boat and get back there again. Quote
Reel_Kaotic Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Thanks, I'm back out there first chance. Like the next few weeks, actually. Everywhere you turn looks like the ideal spot to house bass. Quote
luv2fish33 Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 kaotic1 when my buddy and I went we basicly got on the boat and made a left from the boat dock and fished the dock all the way to the standing timber, we caught bass in every cove and every spot we went, of course the bass got bigger once we got into the standing timer. Quote
Reel_Kaotic Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 luv2fish33: That was my plan for the next time I went out there. We shot to the upper end of the lake and fished the timber there and worked our way back. As you can see, we didn't do to well. Did you fish the rip-rap on your way to the other timber or just the hangover brush? I had hard dialing to what the fish wanted, however it was my first time there. Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 late report but been busy this week.... 5/13 Fished from 730am - 1pm...i caught 10 bass total all under 4lbs. Several in 3-4lbs range. I was flipping a beaver style bait into heavy cover or along the steep rock walls in back section and started hooking up. All but 1 fish came off beaver, other was wacky rig senko caught on lower end of lake. Quote
luv2fish33 Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Sorry it took me a while to reply kaotic1 been a crazy week here..Yes we fished the rip-rap and the hangover brush and had luck with both...Everything we caught was off a wacky rig. Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 5/27 Fished from 730am to 1pm...caught around 10 bass, biggest at 18''. All caught off soft plastics. Cloud cover helped...as soon as sun came out of clouds after about 11am bite died. I stayed on lower end all day. Quote
