Hey everyone,

New guy here. I'm 21 and have been fishing since I was a kid. My uncle got me involved in bass fishing and I have been loving it for some time. This is the first summer I will be fishing on my own and need some help finding good locations to fish.

What are some good places to shore fish for bass in NE Ohio? I am located in North Royalton and want to start bass fishing from the shore. I usually go out on Lake Erie with my uncle and his bass boat, but this summer presents a difficult work schedule for me and does not allow me to go out on the boat.

Any good lakes/ponds offer good shore largemouth bass fishing?

Thanks for the help!

Check the Ohio DNR website and do some reading in Ohio Fish and Game. There are lots around within a little drive.

Check out the rivers and streams in that area, should be plenty. Are you far from the Portage Lakes?

Have you fished the local rivers? The Cuyahoga (Brecksville Dam) the Rocky River (Near the golf courses) and the Chagrin (From the lake to Chagrin Falls) all have big Smallmouths that come in from Lake Erie to spawn. Lake erie around the 55th street, 72nd street and edgewater marinas all have good bass and walley fishing.

Thanks for the question and information. I'm new to northeast Ohio and live in Cleveland. I'm also fairly new to bass fishing. I'm dying to go this weekend even though I may have to carry my own bucket to fish out of since its the 4th of July weekend. I think I may try the Portage lakes. Sounds like a great place to try. Thanks again for the info.
