ArkieHawg Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I'm going to spool my spinning rig with braid to try out this week before a tournament Saturday and was wondering what the strongest line to line knot would be for attaching a fluoro leader? I've been throwing 8lb fluoro for wacky rigs, but breaking off 5-6lb fish in thick cover. I'm thinking I can spool up with braid and use a strong fluoro leader and eliminate the breaks. Any help on the knots would be great. Thanks! Quote
FL_Sharpshooter Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Try out the albright knot, its a really good knot. I've never had it come loose. http://www.animatedknots.com/albright/index.php Quote
jdw174 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 If you're tying directly to the braid, the uni/uni knot is my choice. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 24, 2011 Super User Posted April 24, 2011 For line to line connections it's hard to beat the standard Albright Special or the Modified Albright (Alberto) Knot. I use both of them. The Alberto knot is a little shorter, but a bit bulkier than the Albright. The Albright is a bit longer but a bit more compact than the Alberto. Both of them are great knots that are fairly easy to tie once you get the hang of them. Quote
ArkieHawg Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Thanks for the quick replies! I went ahead and tied up the Albright knot, I'll try it out this week and see what happens!! Is the line to line knot a better choice than adding a swivel? Like I said, I'll be strictly wacky rig fishing this rod. Just curious...I figured the line to line would be stronger than the two knots required for the swivel, and I was afraid I might lose some action on the worm also... Quote
hookingem Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Yes swivels IMO are not the best choice for braid to floro leaders Quote
FL_Sharpshooter Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I really wouldn't recommend using a swivel, you'll feel it smack every guide on the way out. The albright knot you can still feel, but its a lot more sleek. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 25, 2011 Super User Posted April 25, 2011 Alberto, hands down. If it works for stripers, it'll work for bass. http://www.stripersonline.com/Pages/Articles/article_arby_albertos_knot.shtml Quote
