They're freakin' sweet, bro! Kistlers don't get as much love on this site as some other rods mainly because a lot of people have issues with their warranty, but they're great rods.

IMO they are good rods but the Powells are just as good for cheaper and the Dobyns Savvy is better for the same price. Now, if you can get one at the closeout price of around $100, buy three.

The cranking rods are very very nice and they are sensitive as well. I have one paired with a Daiwa Exceler. The rods can be found on ebay and I agree they don't get enough recognition and are great deals off ebay.

I have one paired with a Chronarch 100BPV, and I love it. I'm constantly buying, selling, and trading gear, but this is one setup that I plan to keep.

I have no experience with Powell rods, but I've had a quite a few Kistlers including a couple of Helium LTAs. If you can pick up an LTA for $150, I'd go for it. Don't forget to check out the monthly specials on Kistler's website. That's how I got my Carbon Steel Microguide rod for $79.

those kistler heliums look like they are very nice rods, as do the powells ive heard great things about both rods the only thing i didnt hear that was good was the warranty on kistler products, im gonna keep an eye out for those specials for sure. decisions are tough i wish i could just buy both and see what i like but i dont have the kind of money to do that haha thanks again for the replies

Yes, Kistler rods are worth the money. The sensitivity on these rods are greater than any other rod that I have ever used. As Bird dog said, these rods are awesome. The magnesiums are great rods but the Helium will be just a little more sensitive, so if you can get them for 150 I would go for it. You should try the micro guide rods that Kistler has, very light rods with sensitivity that is unreal. Kistler rods are the only rods that I fish with now.

I'd definately suggest a Magnesium with micro guides. The mags with regular guides are good, the micros are awesome. Micros will reduce the overall weight of the rod and increase sensitivity. I own about 10 mags, a mix of micros and regular guides, and I love them all.

I have a 2011 Helium LTA and I'm very impressed with it. I see many more in my future...:P

now the answers come out, its a hard choice between the new powell endurance series and the kistler mags with micro's or the helium lta's for me. I wish i could hold them in my hand first, but my town is so small the only tackle shop i have isnt large in anyway and doesnt carry anything like that. thank you all for the responses, im getting closer to making my purchases on some nice rods..

I bought a Helium II last year when TW closed them out at $160, I'm not a big kistler fan, I liked the mags but their MH handles are too short for my liking and they aren't as balance as other simlar rods, best $160 I have ever spent. Really gave it a work out at Guntersville a few weeks back and would really consider buying another if the price was right.

I just got a coupon code for $50 off Mag rods, and it reminded me of this thread. It expires tomorrow, but it's good for MgBSXH70, MgFS69S, and MgADPT78T rods. Let me know if you're still interested, and I'll PM you the code.

Used Kistler rods for several years from the first Graphite Plus rods, Mags and even a few Heliums they make a great rod fairly light, good guides and reel seats had to use their warranty on a couple ocassisons and never had a problem Trey has a great company with great service from my experience now with that said are there rods out there just as good and at a cheaper price you bet IMHO but the MAGS are really good rods but be sure to handle them before you buy them handles are alittle shorter than most and the actions are alittle softer than most manufactuers so get what you are comfortable with and chose wisely young Jedi
