hootersdoug Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Does anyone here think there is a more exciting way to catch bass than tossing a frog and watching the water explode??? Favorite part of frogging is learning that you have to duck to keep from getting hit between the eyes BEFORE you learn to set the hook AFTER the fish actually eats it. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted April 21, 2011 Super User Posted April 21, 2011 Topwater in general.....doesn't get any better than that! Jeff Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted April 21, 2011 Super User Posted April 21, 2011 I'm pretty fond of swimming a jig just under the surface at a high rate of speed. Those strikes are just violent. Quote
Mattyvac Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Storm Chug Bug and RI Swamp Donkeys are the best FL fishing baits you could ever use. Quote

Feel you there with getting popped in the face! I started using a lighter rod, it helped... Quote
BassThumb Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 There isn't a more exciting way to fish, IMO. Quote
piscicidal Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Agreed...top water frogs is the most exciting way to fish bass. Quote
jignfule Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 So what's the big deal??? you take some stupid rubber froggy pull it on top of a bunch of stinken weeds and a huge fish jumps out of the drink and kills the frog. oh wow, about as boring as SEX!!!!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 23, 2011 Global Moderator Posted April 23, 2011 Topwater fishing is fun but I think I get more jacked up over that solid "thump!" when I flip a jig into a brushpile or something. You know it's probably going to be a good one and you're about to get to cross his eyes! Not a lot of places that provide good frog fishing around here though so maybe that's why it doesn't get me as revved up. Quote
Smiths.R Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I love feeling the tap on a T-Rigged bait and breaking their jaw, but if you can get into some good Frog Fishing, there is literally nothing better. You know that every time you jerk that Frog, it could be the twitch that makes them attack. Awesome! Quote

Jig fishing, especially flipping, is my absolute favorite way to fish. When they hammer a jig I just pitched to a laydown, I just about lose it. Don't get me wrong, I love frogs, but jigs are better. Evans Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I've only fished a frog some, but plan on fishing it a lot more this year. However, I gotta agree with the jig fishermen. There is nothing like pitching into a mess of brush or any other type of cover and feeling that THUMP. Because you know as soon as you feel that, the fight to get the fish out of that mess has begun! Gets my adrenaline going just typing and thinking about it! Quote
Luke at Gouldsboro Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Frogs are fun. I think any topwater (especially buzzbaits IMO) is awesome. Quote
