My friend pointed me in the direction of these guys and I thought I'd pass it on. No lyrics, just music, which I found a bit refreshing from the norm. This song in particular is called "Beyond Monday" and there is a free download available on their site. Some of their tracks bring the best out of my headphones and I'd imagine a nice set of speakers would be even better. This song doesn't hit as hard as the others but it's the one that's free for anyone so I shared it instead.

I saw them kick off their Drink The Sea Tour last summer in Minneapolis. The put on a great show. I love innovative electronic music like the Glitch Mob, Brian Eno, Ulrich Schnauss, Sasha, Flying Lotus, Four Tet, James Zabiela, Burial, James Blake, etc. It makes for good driving music with the windows up and the volume cranked.

If you like the mellower stuff from Glitch Mob, you should definitely check out Ulrich Schnauss. He's my favorite artist making this kind of music. Fantastic producer. These user created videos are lame, but it'll give you an idea of the sound.

BassThumb: I have most of their "Drink the Sea" album, love their stuff. I really want to see the summer tour, they're stopping in SF so I might be able to go see them.

Haha when I first heard their music I instantly thought of using it as driving music! I can't wait to get home from school and roll with this blasting out my speakers B)

As for Ulrich, I'm not sure, maybe a little too mellow for me. I'm going to be looking around for more music like this though, that's for sure.

A couple of guys I use to work with listen to them a ton. First time hearing anything from them, not bad. A good change from the norm.

After hearing a clip of them on one of the Go camera commercials, I bought the CD. Good driving music, but a bit too repetitive for me.

I agree that the tracks can get repetitive, but I don't mind it as much as I do with other songs. I guess it's a consequence of having track lengths that are larger than most other music, almost every song runs for about 6:00.

Oscar, if Ulrich Schnauss is too mellow or just not for you, then maybe you'll like Sasha or Trentemøller. Both have a very unique sound. These first few are some of the first tracks that got me interested in electronic music, and made me start searching for music that wasn't on the radio, which expanded my horizons musically into many different genres.

Trentemøller seems like an interesting group, they kind of remind me of a mellower/darker Ratatat, not on the dot, but I can sense a similarity, especially in the first video of them they had a guitarist. Ratatat utilizes some guitar in I think most of their tracks, definitely a plus for me. I like the rock feel of Ratatat and hip-hop from Glitch Mob.

Ratatat sounds interesting. I checked out their YouTube vids.

Yeah they were one of the performers at our Spring Fling concert here at Penn so I checked them out. Some of their tracks I really like, I'll be keeping an eye on what they release as well.
