AC_Doctor Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I am fishing a 10 acre lake with vast quanties of moss from 25'-75' out. There are big bass in there, but the moss makes fishing a regular topwater lure with treble hooks impossible. I have had some luck with a weightless Senko, but even that gets mossy build up on it. Recomend a topwater lure (frog, mouse etc.) that is weedless that will work for my hunt for big bass. Thanks is advance! AC Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 16, 2009 Super User Posted May 16, 2009 I use horny toads, but any of them work. I like a 4/0 wide gap skin hooked, most weedless I have found. The lures with 2 hooks will catch floating weeds or grass between the hooks and the body. Quote
CookieMonst3r Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Try a Mann's the Weasal. They're only $5. Quote
aarogb Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I would try either the SPRO Bronze Eye frogs, or either Zoom Horney Toads. Quote

VolFan Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 A big tube jig, texas rigged, weightless, preferably one without salt as the salt makes it sink too much. As long as you keep twitching, it'll stay on top. You can then let it flutter down in holes. Works great on mucky lakes as you can hide the hook eye, the shape of the tube sloughs off weeds, and the bass generally haven't seen it before. Quote
BassinSoldier Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I'd also say the bronzeye frog, or any number of toads, including the ragetail toad or zoom hornytoad. Quote

Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted May 17, 2009 Super User Posted May 17, 2009 The lures with 2 hooks will catch floating weeds or grass between the hooks and the body. True,I have had that problem with scummy moss, but the bronzeye poppin frog doesn't do that and that is what I would reccomend. This is one of the hottest and most effective new baits out. Quote

[/quoteIt is true, but my experience with Southern Pro and River2Sea frogs have been similar to your ANY BAIT IN MOSS< WILL PICK UP A LITTLE MOSS You learn how to minimize that and work it with good results.I also trhow *** Toads with a 4/0 EWG, it also picks up a little moss, but is also effective Quote
