fishincop640 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Hello everyone..... Since you all helped me on the tube question I have another one for yall How do you keep the skirts on spinnerbaits and jigs? It seems like after several uses or over the winter, the rubber bands dry rot and I try to fix them up and it doesn't seem to work right. Is there any special heavy duty bands to use or do you think I could use like small zip ties or something?? Seems to always happen on spinner baits and the jigs. Thanks to everyone in advance. Quote
Super User CWB Posted May 14, 2009 Super User Posted May 14, 2009 Pick up the smallest plastic wire ties you can at you local hardware store and cinch around the skirt before even using it. Quote

Siebert Outdoors Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 2.5" piece of small wire and wrap it around a couple times. Twist the wire together a couple times and bam wire tied jig. Quote
MyKeyBe Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Yep. Zip ties or small dia. wire will do the trick! I prefer zip ties myself. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted May 16, 2009 Super User Posted May 16, 2009 I've also heard of people using braid to secure the skirts as well. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted May 17, 2009 Super User Posted May 17, 2009 I use bread twisties they come in diff colors too Quote
Super User burleytog Posted May 17, 2009 Super User Posted May 17, 2009 If you own a jig long enough for the collar to dry-rot, you aren't fishing your jigs in the right spots. Quote
fishincop640 Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Thanks a lot for all your information. The problem i have with them is storing them over the winter months. Ive just started using jigs on a regular basis. Still havent had much success with them. Thanks to everyone for their help. Quote
