Super User whitwolf Posted April 23, 2011 Super User Posted April 23, 2011 I watch both college and pro and go to many State(north carolina state) football games each year. I would rather watch, live or on TV, a college game 100-1. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted April 24, 2011 Super User Posted April 24, 2011 Gosh, this thread wasn't what I expected..... I was sure one of the first five posts would mention beer pong! Quote

Super User Sam Posted April 26, 2011 Super User Posted April 26, 2011 Hey Knox Vegas, how about showing the end of last year's LSU-Tennessee contest? Or the SEC Championship game of 2003? Or the Bama game of 2009? Don't you just love SEC football? Great contests and the fans love to get on each other within the conference. We will band together against those out of the SEC. About 19 weeks to go and then kickoff!!!! Do you think The Ohio State University has the same amount of time left with Tressel and their program?????? Quote

But yes, SEC football is hard to beat. I love watching a game in Neyland and may go to the LSU game this year depending on my work schedule at that point in the fall. Oh Grundlelove mentioned college football is far inferior to NFL in talent and etc. He forgets that theres an exception: The SEC! Where those who can play in the NFL go to play until they are eligible for the draft! Funny family UT/LSU situation for me. In the 01 SEC Championship game my cousin is a huge UT fan also. He got tickets to the game in the LSU section because the girl he was dating (now married to) had a brother playing for LSU. Sadly, that now brother in law got to play a lot more than usual due to an injury to a starter. My cousin is now married to Matt Maucks sister. Matt rubs it in on him some I do believe. Quote
SDoolittle Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 The SEC! Where those who can play in the NFL go to play until they are eligible for the draft! You must not remember the 2010 NFL draft! Here's a bit of trivia for you: In which conference did the 2010 offensive and defensive rookies of the year play college football? (Hint: It's not the SEC) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6091663 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6091681 1 Quote

hokiefisherman93 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 When the Golden Band from Tiger Land starts to march onto the field with 92,000+ clapping their hands in rythum to the beat, you get goosebumps. Then, when the band strikes those four famous keys, the crowd goes bonkers. Yes, it is Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium. Nothing like it in the world. If you have never been to a night LSU football game do your self a favor and try to get tickets and attend. You will never forget that experience. Obviously you have not been in Lane Stadium when Enter Sandman gets everyone pumped! Thursday night games in Blacksburg get so crazy the whole stadium is shaking and the opposing team cannot hear the plays getting called. I recall one Miami lineman talking how they had to squeeze hands on the snap it was so loud! LETS GO!!!!! Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 28, 2011 Super User Posted April 28, 2011 Hey Hokie, I go to one game a year at Lane and it is a great venue for football. We have a great time. And I am on a roll. After two losses to West Virginia I have had the Hokies win all of their games I attended for the past three years, including the Nebraska contest. Lane is OK for its opening, but it is no Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. Just ask your Hokie friends who went to Baton Rouge a few years ago. They are still talking about that adventure and hope to one day parallel LSU with their tailgates and the LSU night atmosphere. I will add that us old foggies have a great time going to Lane and to say the least, that stadium is almost as loud as Tiger Stadium. Hokie fans are really nice and everyone has a good time. So you make some plans to head to Baton Rouge one weekend and enjoy the experience of LSU football when the sun sets and the crowd goes wild. Quote
KnoxVegas Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Lane Stadium is nice for its acoustics. It pails in comparison though to Death Valley in Baton Rouge, Neyland with chants of Rocky Top, the Chomp in Gainesville, a little Yellow Hammer in Tuscaloser, or the atmosphere on the plains of Jordan-Haire. I have a cousin who graduated from Tech and is a Florida fan. He attended many games in Lane, and has been to Neyland, the Swamp and Jordan-Haire. He says Jordan Haire is the loudest, craziest place he has ever been to a game at. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 29, 2011 Super User Posted April 29, 2011 I miss my team having a stadium of their own. The old OB used to be a place that nobody wanted to play in. At least I can say I was alive during the longest home winning streak in college history....and then I watched the building get torn down so some stupid baseball stadium could get built. I'm going to go sit in a corner and cry now. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 29, 2011 Super User Posted April 29, 2011 Knox Vegas, my wife and I went to the LSU-Auburn game when the old frame women's gym burned down during the game. We could see the flames shooting above the stadium behind us. My worry was that the game would be suspended until the fire was extinguished. We had a great time on campus and caught up with our Auburn friends. By the way, the Fighting Tigers won the game. Quote
hokiefisherman93 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Looks like I may need to venture down to cajun country I'm okay with more football Quote
