SDoolittle Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 I still dont get the fascination with college football. Mods, can we go ahead and ban this guy? Honestly, I don't get the fascination with NFL football, but I'm an absolute college football junkie. Quote
GrundleLove Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 A bunch of kids (yes kids) with mediocre talent playing football? Why would I want to watch that as opposed to the NFL? It's just not as entertaining..period. I have watched games side by side and its a borefest. Hand off...hand off...pitch...reverse...reverse...OMG THEY THREW THE BALL!! oh wait it wasn't even close to the receiver. ( and yes i know everyone is going to jump on me with the whole "thats not even what its like you dont even watch it " blah blah blah..but that's what I see when I watch it.) I get the idea of the whole rivalry thing and that's cool, the bowl games get hyped and that is awesome i guess...but there are colleges who have stadiums that are as large or LARGER than NFL teams..and its college for gods sake! colleges from the south amaze me. 1 Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 21, 2011 Super User Posted April 21, 2011 Go Blue. U of M class of 2002 (U of M Dental School) As far as Massachusetts goes, it's the cradle of education, Harvard is only 1 of many outstanding arenas of higher education, Michigan ain't too shabby either in that department. "But then again your from the South Shore of Massachusetts, do they even have football in Massachuseets?" They have the Pats and Tom Brady is from, where else........Michigan! Wolverines : have won the most games in college football history have the best fight song have 39 straight winning seasons have 11 national Titles have won 42 Big ten titles have been to over 30 straight bowl games have near record attendance, nearly 110,000 per game Quote
nick76 Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 That is why U of M is considered the Harvard of the Midwest. Back on topic.....I love football period. High School and College have a different feel when viewed live than the NFL. I can say that the NFL is a great way to end a weekend though. If I have to skip one day it would have to be NFL Sunday though. Won't miss a U of M game for nothing. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 21, 2011 Author Super User Posted April 21, 2011 The best y’all got for college football in Massachusetts is Tom Brady who went to Michigan? When was the last time Michigan was relevant in college football? LSU has the highest winning percentage of any college while playing at night & they are still a threat to win the national championship this year. The NFL is nothing more than over paid college kids period! Quote
GrundleLove Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 The NFL is nothing more than over paid college kids period! You're joking right? The pace, skill level, and intensity is like night and day between the two. Which is why I say its not entertaining, because it's not up to par. Know what every single player on that college field wants to do? Play Pro. Quote

LSU has the highest winning percentage of any college while playing at night & they are still a threat to win the national championship this year. The NFL is nothing more than over paid college kids period! Michigan was very much relevant as recently as the 2006 season. They would have played in the BCS championship game if they had beated Ohio State. Of course, they lost that game and their bowl game, and they started off the 2007 season with an embarrassing home loss to Appalachian State. Hiring Rich Rod didn't help matters much, but University of Michigan football will recover. You're right about LSU. They're almost always a threat to win it all. They should have a good shot at it this year, if they make it through a tough SEC West schedule. Their trip to Morgantown should be a good early season test for them. Your beloved SEC has been known to have some overpaid college kids as well! Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted April 21, 2011 Super User Posted April 21, 2011 LSU will have a tough time with their last game of the season as well! Seems like they always do :D Quote
