Cboogie Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 anyone have this reel? thinking about buying it but im not sure if its worth it Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Daiwa just put out a new cranking model with I believe 4.9:1 as a cranking model. I have the 6.3:1 HL and 7.1:1 SHL models and both work fine with me putting the 6.3 model through a year of time on the water. It has held up fine with no problems. The 7.1 model is new so only time will tell how well it holds up. Quote
breezy Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I've been thinking about trying one of these out also, would be interested to hear any reviews. I don't own any of the lower end Daiwa reels so I really have no idea what to expect. How would it compare to a BPS PQ or similar? I have a Carbonlite that I love but always looking for different options. Quote
Sherlock 60 Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I've had a Daiwa Exceler casting reel for about three years and like it a lot. But, I bought two BassPro ProQualifier reels last month when they were on sale for $79 and absolutely love them. If I had to choose I would go for the PQ every time, even at the full price of $99. I feel the same way about my Carbonlite compared to my Revo S and Citica (which I no longer own). The only reason I still have the Revo is the 20+lbs of drag is nice to have at times. Other than that I feel the Carbonlite is a superior reel in every way. Better handle, better ergonomics, smoother retrieve, lighter, dual braking, etc. I just hate the BPS badge on the side Quote
stkbassn Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 anyone have this reel? thinking about buying it but im not sure if its worth it I've played around with some of the lower end daiwa's and can't say I'm in love with them but this reel may be perfect for you considering the fact that you own two already. You might check out that new Lew's crankbait reel. I've heard great things about it and it's around $90 brand new. I've held it in my hands and it seems like a quality reel for that price. It's very low profile and it's super light which is a huge plus if you're spending a long day/night cranking. Quote
