rowyourboat Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 alright, this lake has a large number of smallies. water is clear/slightly stained. water temps are between 55*-57*. I found a bunch of points and flats that had some fish on them. I have some grubs, mepps spinners, spider jigs, tubes, cranks, lipless cranks, all my drop shooting stuff, carolina rig stuff, jerkbaits, etc.... what would you guys try given the conditions???? any other lures i need to make sure are in my boat??? thanks!!!! Super User Shane J Posted April 19, 2011 Super User Posted April 19, 2011 Football jig with Falcon Lake Rage Craws! Smallies gobble 'em up! Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 20, 2011 Super User Posted April 20, 2011 Some kind of swim jig to search with. Then slow down with a hard jerk to strain a productive area. Some folks advocate lipless cranks as an effective search bait. I've just never done well with them for whatever reason? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 20, 2011 Global Moderator Posted April 20, 2011 Those conditions sound perfect for a jerkbait to me. If that doesn't work I'd probably go slow with a jig, tube, shakeyhead, dropshot. Quote
BRONZEBACK_ADDICT Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I agree with the jerkbait...I'd use it for a search bait to catch the aggressive fish and follow up with plastics. My experience has been that the colder the water, the longer the pause between jerks. Good luck...let us know how you did and what worked. Quote
