It has I've noticed that there are less new people and more just the regulars. Even some of those guys aren't taking part as much cause they don't like the upgrades.

I think that the new forum just feels to techy. I love most of the new features but it might be scaring away new people.

Thats just my $.02 but I'm sure Glenn knows what he is doing.

I think the switchover happened to coincide with a lot of the country icing out, thus more of our members actually fishing.

Good point! I had noticed the lack of activity, but I just assumed it was everyone getting adjusted after the new upgrade. I joined the forums after the last "major upgrade", and I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread (still do). But, not long after that, it seemed like the membership and activity spiked. Give the changes a little time and I bet the same thing happens again.

Keep in mind that a lot of the members are way past their teens and twenties and may be intimidated by all of the bells and whistles, or just not that impressed with it. It's second nature to those who have grown up with it, not so with those who didn't. Hell, my 12 year old daughter had to show me how to post pictures. I'm a mechanic, I use computers for diagnostics. Many of you are on them all day at work and then again at night at home.

Some of ones we haven't heard from are probably thinking "If it wasn't broke, why did they mess with it ?"

I was thinking the exact thing the other day I remember when new threads would start and minutes later there would be tons of views and usually afew replies. Now it seems like a lot of threads go unanswered or viewed. Just seems slower I haven't seen j francho sense the switch idk seems not as busy as befor

Sliced bread isn't so great, it loses it's flavor, bread that is torn or broken does not and the same can be said in regards to this newer version, it has lost it's flavor.

I'm comfortable with the changes now but participation does seem to have suffered, seems to be fewer original threads that get my attention.

Hey guys, 3 things:

1. Our logfiles show MORE traffic on the site, not less.

2. A lot of the regulars are over in Kentucky right now at the roadtrip, so they're not posting at the moment.

3. Jfrancho has been on vacation, Gene has been guiding and doing week-long trips with his boy scout troop. People DO have lives outside of the forums. LOL!

Sirsnook - I realize you're unhappy with the changes. You've been very vocal about it, and have taken every opportunity to voice your opinion every chance you get. I get it. I hear you. You don't need to repeat it over and over again anymore.

I guess I am not the norm, as it seems to me that there are more newcomers on the site than older regulars. However, as mentioned, the switch came just about ice out time for much of the country and many people are on the water. Every year I have been on the site, which aren't many yet, the site gets punded all winter and the first sign of sun and clear water it is like the site shut down. give it time folks..

Any new marketing tool has to be in place at least 8-12 weeks before real knowledge is gained as far as effectiveness is concerned. The new format does take a bit to get used to but as the site moves forward this platform will allow infinite numbers of benefits to every member of the site. Most people fear and loathe change though.

It's time to actually start fishing and talk less. For people who have been here for years it's typical to see the volume of postings fluctuate throughout the year. I doubt that there is any correlation between a change in posting and the new forum software (which I think is a big upgrade).

Yeah I think its more ppl fishing I'm just on vacation Wich I was hopping to spend fishing but mother nature is pmsing and decided to drop 40* and start snowing. So I'm bored at home surfing BR but I have noticed threads went from bait monkey to bragging about catches or help on getting some more bites.

I am on here less because #1 I am busy at work getting ready for when the weather finally does break, and #2, the ice is gone and in my spare time I would rather fish then sit in front of the computer.

i cant believe people are still complaining about the site, i hate it for them if they decide to join any other forums. this place took a huge step up, and to be honest i wasnt very fond of the old forum because it seemed very out of date, then again i dont come here because of how the place looks, i come here for the information available here...

What's not to like? The forums are still the same. There does seem to be alot of "new" traffic, which sometimes is a plus. Sir Snook loves his rotary phones...

i've noticed an apparent decline i participation too. higher site traffic != high participation. i am logged into bass resource whenever i am on the internets (i have it as an app tab), but i don't actively use the forums nearly as much.

I did say that I was now comfortable with the changes, I wasn't complaining. BTW I loved my rotary phones, they lasted like forever, never broke or needed replacement.

I like the new site. It took me a little time to learn all the new features but now I really like it. Its easier to surf and I can read more topics faster.

You know when you think about it guys we all kinda got what we wanted.

  • Glenn says there is more traffic so that is good for him.
  • The regulars are still posting so that hasn't changed. The new site is nicer once you get use to it.
  • I remember on the old forum that we use to complain a little bit about how newer members did things like run up post count or start fights or just post weird stuff.
  • Well it seems that we got are wish and its more of the normal guys doing stuff while the new guys learn the ropes.

As long as us regulars stick together and post good topics,Keep sharing what we learn, give good advice, and help the new guys then BassResource.com will never really change new site or no new site.

This is for all you whiners.

I am old and set in my ways, not very computer savvy, also type like the girls that work for IBM "Huntin Pecker".

If a contrary old fart like me can figure out how to surf this forum anyone that want to can also. I see whining about the adds. Someone has to pay for this forum and am glad it is not me. Also Glenn deserves more than a pat on the back for all the work he has done to bring this forum to the place it is now and should be able to reap some rewards for all the money he spent to get where he has it now. I am relative sure this forum will carry on with or without the naysayers and if they leave rather than try to accept change so be it, it's their loss.

I have fished for over 65 years and have forgot more about fishing than some of you know. I learn something new every time I log on here that will help me be a better fisherman than I am today. I intend to fish and be a member of BR as long as I live(unless Glenn bars me) even if I have to use a pontoon boat an get wheeled onto it in my wheelchair. Glenn and I have had our moments over the past 6 years I have been a member but I admire him for where he has brought this forum compared to where it was when I joined.

So you guys that don't like the way it is now LEAVE or STAY, Just shut up and quit whining(I hope you stay).
