B. Hunt Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I feel like i am a pretty expierienced fisherman but the only thing is the only place i have ever really fished in my life have been really small ponds. I slam them when i am at a small pond but its a whole different story on a lake. I have recently started trying lakes more and i keep getting skunked. The water is still a little cold but it was 60 today when i went out and not even a bite. Any tips on how to find fish on lakes i feel lost out there?!?!? Quote
Oscar O. Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'd say to start with a topo map to find some specific spots on the lake that you think will produce in accordance with the current conditions and fish those spots thoroughly when you're out there. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 18, 2011 Super User Posted April 18, 2011 Are you fishing from a boat or from shore? If a boat, do you have a sonar? If you do, then use that to find structure to fish, i.e.: points, humps, drop offs, etc.. The sonar can be invaluable for finding baitfish on structures. Once you do that, you've narrowed the playing field tremendously and the odds will be in your favor. If you are shorebound, it's going to be tough. Do as previously suggested and get a good topo map. Fish those points or cuts where the deep water comes close to the shoreline. You will still have to do a lot of searching and walking! Quote
