dulouz Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I have been tweeking some of my spinnerbaits by changing out the smaller colorado blades with different colors. I have been placing the outer face that curves out, pointing up. I just noticed today that my untouched store bought baits have the outer curve facing down. Does it matter? Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 15, 2011 Super User Posted April 15, 2011 Would you mind posting a pic? No offense, but I may be reading something wrong here. Quote
dulouz Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 I don't have a good camera so I will try to explain it better. How about this... the blades are not perfectly flat. The are shapped like a saucer, better yet a frisbee more or less. I would say the side of the frisbee with the writing would be the top. If you look at the side of the spinner bait, the unaltered baits have the writing of the frisbee pointing down towards the weight. When I switched blades I didnt pay attention and ended up pointing the writing of the frisbee towards the top blade. I looked at your pic with all your posts, it appears as though the blades are sitting as if the frisbee had the writing towards the camera. At least that is how it looks based on the light reflection. How nuts do I sound now??? Thanks for your patience. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 16, 2011 Super User Posted April 16, 2011 Ahhh...you got them backwards. I will say, that was the strangest description I've ever heard, but the good news is, you're not nuts! I understood it! LOL Do me a favor? I'm the one on these forums that tends to post the "off-the-wall" (I think that's what a well respected member described it) lures. If you made 4, then switch out three to the right configuration and fish the original backwards, like the one you made. I'd be very curious as to how that works. You think I'm nuts? Try this: Take your big blade from the rear and switch it to the front and put your front small blade on the back on the bearing. The bass goes nuts. What happens is, the big blade in front starves the rear blade (on the bearing) of water causing the rear blade to flutter like a spoon. Try It! Quote
Chris Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 if you want the blades to turn free and fluid you need to have the cup side down facing the wire...if you want the second blade to spin intermittently cup up. Quote
