So what's the best of the best this year for smallies and large mouth? I got into using the X-Rap last year. You can catch about anything on that lure.

Whatever you have confidence in using , there is no best of the best singular bait.

I just bought a HUGE bag of RootBeer/Orange tubes that I will be using ALOT this year. I'm hoping these will be my Greatest this year. If not they will be available in the Flea Market in August ;)

Bingo, the best bait for each person is specific to that person because different people are more comfortable with different techniques. You can practice the ones you are uncomfortable with to make yourself well rounded but your best bait will likely be different from another angler's. It's not so much what bait we're using but how we're applying it to different scenarios that makes it work.

Thanks for the ideas and imput. I agree most people pick a particular lure as the best simply because that's the one they feel most comfortable with and use most often. Therefore that's the lure they catch most of their fish with and say it's the best. I should have asked if anyone has of a new product for 2011 that they can't wait to buy and try.

I finally pulled the trigger on a Megabass Vision 110 and a Mattlures bluegill swimbait. It hurts getting 2 baits and almost spending $50 dollars but if they're as good as I keep hearing it will be worth it!
