coolhandlala Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Like the title says I am looking for a 7'6" cranking rod and am having a hard time deciding any recommendations would be helpful Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 13, 2011 Super User Posted April 13, 2011 During the off season I got a Dobyns Champion 765CB Glass, paired it with a Curado 200E5. Absolutely love this combo. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 SR 765 Lamiglas. This blank has just the right blend of back bone, action and sensitivity to hook and land fish on deep cranks and cover. Mine is custom built with an Ambassadeur 4600c3. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted April 13, 2011 Super User Posted April 13, 2011 You didn't mention your price range, but at the lower end, a lot of us like the BPS Crankin' Sticks - there are 7'6" rods in M and MH...I have them both... Quote
barroncooper Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 google G-blanks. I had one built earlier this year and it's a phenomenal cranking stick. 7'6" m/h moderate fast split grip, split reel seat, and micro guides for $140. it 's incredibly sensitive and can hurl big cranks a mile. Quote
Super User deep Posted April 16, 2011 Super User Posted April 16, 2011 I bought 2 Pinnacle Perfecta MH cranking rods last season, and still have one of them. It's difficult to lose a fish on these rods. These are 7'8" long, and suitable for .75 to 1.25 oz deep-divers, irrespective of whatever the lure rating says. Retailed for $170 when I got them. Quote
coolhandlala Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 I am looking for something that I can throw everything from square bills to wigglewarts to lipless cranks. Anybody fish the dobyns 765? Quote
mikeeasttn Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I use a Shimano Crucial 7'6" MH Rod for some cranking and I like it very well. Do not know if you will like but it might pay to check one out. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted April 16, 2011 Super User Posted April 16, 2011 All the rods listed thus far are excellent choices, the 765 being a very good choice. My favorite in a "Big bait" rod is the Loomis CBR896DF. I love the way the rod reacts to everything a bait is doing. It's a light enough rod that it is more than comfortable to fish all day throwing big baits without being sore. It's sensitive enough to feel a fish swim over a bait, which used to be something I had trouble with from time to time. I couldn't feel it. Quote
Gotta-go-Fishin Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I use to use an ALL Star rod for cranking. I would lose about 2 or 3 fish out of 10. I purchased a KVD Tour Cranking Rod. NOw I will only lose 1 out of 25 or 30. Great cranking rod. Quote
