Crankhead Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Getting everything ready to get back out for another season. Glanced in my box w/Blue Fox Vibrax Spinners and found the trebles covered w/rust. I know I can get the rust off using a hook sharpener. But is there a solution I could soak the trebles in that'll take off the rust and not damage the treble and/or spinner? If I wanted to just put a new treble on...cutting off the old is easy. But there's no way that I can see to add a new treble. know I could just cut the old treble off but there's no way to put on a new treble on...any ideas? Thanks much. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 11, 2011 Super User Posted April 11, 2011 I would just replace the lure, pretty reasonably priced if my mind serves me correct. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted April 11, 2011 Super User Posted April 11, 2011 Cut the old hook off and use a small spit-ring to attach a new hook. oe Quote
Super User grimlin Posted April 11, 2011 Super User Posted April 11, 2011 Cut the old hook off and use a small spit-ring to attach a new hook. oe Yep,just add some split rings. All my inline spinners have split rings on em'. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 12, 2011 Super User Posted April 12, 2011 I would use a split ring with a new treble, but if you don't want the added length, then you could use a dremel tool with a steel wire attachment tool to clean the old...Split rings is faster. Quote
Crankhead Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 Thanks to Jigfishn10, Grimlin & OkobojiEagle who posted just cut off the hook...add a split ring & new treble. Duh...it's so simple & a great solution. With all the trebles on cranks that I change...this never entered my mind. I knew if I put the question out there...someone would have an idea or two...glad I found Bass Resource years ago. Thanks again, this should do the job. Crank. Quote
