airborne_angler Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Anyone currently own one or had one in the past? I picked an empty one up today at a yard sale for $5. A few of the rivets on the hinges for the trays have been replaced with small screws and nuts, but the box still opens and closes fine. Down in the bottom of the box are 2 small vented sections which read "ZERUST corrosion protection" How long is this Zerust technology good for? How long has Zerust been around? Why have I only recently ever heard about this technology? Quote
DeadEyeDavey Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I am currently using one right now. Not a bad little box if I do say so myself. My dad had this box a good 15-20 years before me. He broke off the handle (and you know how big and heavy these things can get) so he just bought a new box and left this one in the garage. it stayed in there until I screwed a screen door handle to the top of it and called it good. Any ways to answer your questions ZERUST has been a round for a while (obviously our boxes are old) I think it's just a pad that sucks up excess moisture to prevent corrosion. I don't even know if it works i might just be a gimmick to make better sales that's why you never heard of it. Quote
