Boots Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 some sort of trout my guess would be a brown or a rainbow Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 10, 2011 Super User Posted April 10, 2011 Although I value Nate's expert opinion very highly, I actually think that is a salmon. I caught one that looked very similar to that, and was told it was in fact a salmon. Quote
NateFollmer Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Ah never even thought about salmon.... they do look similar when they are young. Good call Shane! Not about the fish, about valuing my opinion Quote
GTrombly Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I think it's a salmon too, just looked at other pictures. Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I third, Salmon. Good catch! Didn't know those were even back there. Nice work! Quote
Nixstyx Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 That definitely looks like a salmon. NH Fish and Game does stock salmon parr and smolt in some of the tributaries of the Merrimack River watershed (as part of the salmon restoration program), but not in the Nashua River. That guy must have got lost. Hopefully you released him, because they're illegal to keep at that size. Here's a link to a NH F&G page about how to tell the difference between a salmon and trout. http://www.eregulati...nd-brown-trout/ Quote
