I have been taught many things from my parents and grandparents over my lifetime. For instance, dont pee into the wind. It makes sense and I am smart enough not figure out that its a bad idea. But, yesterday I ignored advice that I once recieved and payed the price. I was cutting fishing line out of my trolling motor. The prop wouldnt come off, so I had to pull it out just enough to wedge my knife in there to cut the line. Well, like an idiot (I knew better), I was cutting towards my body. The line cut, then the knife kept coming and cut me across my nose. I dropped the knife and figured it had to do something, but I didn't really feel much. I then walked inside, hollared for my wife to come look and see if it was cut bad and then the blood started coming. My wife showed up just in time to see the blood squirting out and she immediately said we are going to the hospital. I refused to go until I saw it in a mirror. I had just about cut it completely off, I mean, it was just barely hanging on. So, to make a long story short (or shorter), I went to the ER and they sewed my nose back on. 11 stiches and a little glue later, I feel pretty good, but my face still looks terrible. I have learned my lesson though, listen to the old advise you recieved from the old timers...they really do know best, and learn from me, dont cut towards your body.

P.S.: My wife pretty much passed out and was dry heeving when she saw it. Needless to say, shes not in school to be a nurse.:lol:

Since it did not happen to me---I don't care who you are -- that is funny right there.

Get better soon and I wanna see pics of your nose. I think of the old Jack Nicholson movie (China Something) where the bad guys cut his nose--you could use that story.

Haha...I thought it was kinda funny too, but the wife sure didnt. And sorry guys, no pics were taken. Everything happened so fast, pics were the last thing on my mind.

Glad you have a sense of humor, but in all joking aside, I'm glad it turned out ok, man.

My grandfather was helping a guy put on a tin roof, and piece of the tin slipped out of his buddy's hand, and slid off the roof, hitting my grandfather in the head. Thankfully, he was wearing a hard-hat. But, the tin slid down the front of his hat and cut his nose right off his face. The doctors sewed it back on, but he had an awesome scar the rest of his life.

Boy, I was thinking the same thing. You guys like the gruesome. "Graphic! Caution, viewer discretion

Pics of the scar or or something? That should be proof enough ;)

But that must have been a real sight to see in the mirror, glad that you're okay man.

Well, at least you know the knife is sharp. Theres nothing worse than a dull knife.....

......especially when you're trying to cut off part of your face. Wokka wokka!!

Glad they got it reattached and everything worked out in the end for you. BTW, I hope you got the TM freed up. After all that, it better be running great.

The prop is now clear of line...but unfortunately I think the line broke a seal.

More times than not, we old - fogies know what we're talking about, or, at least, have a clue.
