Muddy Water Master1301600203 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Does anyone use weedless ribbit frogs? I have had several fish on by skimming them over the top of weeds/grass, but never got the fish to the boat because of not being able to set the hook, even after a hard hookset. Any suggestions, or ideas? Quote
nateobot Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 There is some good information in this thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1241629263/0 Quote
Muad Dib Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 weedless ribbit frogs? im not sure i understand that because i fish all my frogs weedless. wel i texas rig my frogs that include ribbit frogs and horny toads with a 3/0 ewg gamakatsu. but i do use the ribbit frogs that are around the 3.5 inch gategory or a lil larger at 4 inches. no bigger than that. so maybe downsize your frog for a better hook up. hope this helped somewhat t Quote
Super User Marty Posted May 12, 2009 Super User Posted May 12, 2009 Ribbits are my lure of choice in that category. I use a 4/0 extra-wide gap hook. I'd make sure you're using a big enough hook and a rod with enough backbone. If you're using both, then I don't know what to say other than reviewing your hooksetting technique. Quote
