lip ripson Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I was just wondering if anyone knew of some good screen to use to paint scales on a lure, or where i could pick some up? I used a sink screen on a couple already but was thinking of using something to maybe wrap around em. Would appreciate any help. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted April 5, 2011 Super User Posted April 5, 2011 i cut the netting out of aquarium nets and wrap that around the bait and use chip cilps/clothes pins to hold it tight around the bait. it works great. Quote
lip ripson Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 Sweet, yes that sounds good and easy to find, thanks. Quote

Super User .dsaavedra. Posted April 5, 2011 Super User Posted April 5, 2011 if your scale mesh starts getting stiff on your i've heard you can throw it in the washing machine with the laundry and it will come out good as new. i need to try that, mine is starting to accumulate too much paint Quote

I left it for a week (forgot about it, LOL). Came out great, smells nice too. This was new material and it was too stiff for my liking. Dave Quote
von Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 You can go to a craft store and buy some mesh netting. It's used for making wedding veils. They sell it buy the square yard for cheap! They do have different hole sizes too, I think. It's been awhile. I thought I'd be smart and buy 9 sq. yds. I can't get rid of this stuff! It just never ends! PM me your address. I'll send you a couple sq. yds. to try. Quote

If you can find onions in a mesh bag, that works well too. Quote
detroit1 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Fine and coarse scale netting is available at about $1 square/foot at some lure parts catalogs.... Quote
