Nayte Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Hey everyone! I usually fish Mercer and Occuquan, as well as a few local ponds. I wanted to give Lake Royal a try this weekend. Anyone have any hotspots or tips for this location? On the map it looks like I can park near the townhouses and walk down. I'm a shore fisherman. I think it's still to cold/early for buzzing, so I was going to texas rig some worms or creature baits. Maybe even some jigging if I can find some deep water. Any tips for this location would be appreciated, or if any locals want to meet up to fish, that'd be fun Quote

A.Do? Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I haven't had a chance to get out there lately so can't reeally help you much. I'd try crankbaits by the dam but that's just me. If you park at the townhouses, if it's the same townhouses I'm thinking of, and go away from the dam (taking a right at the path) you can fish the shoreline there but the water on that end is pretty shallow. If you think the fish are shallow, go there! haha sorry, i know i'm no help. good luck! Quote

impatientangler Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Been fishing this lake for a few years now. Only ever caught a handful of 2lb+ bass. However, if your looking for catfish and turtles, beware. They are everywhere. A friend said hes been having good luck over by the soccer field side of the lake as opposed to the boat ramp side using rubber worms, and slow rollin some spinner baits. Gl Quote
