I have and use the bronzeye frog with good success. I was wondering if anyone has tried the new " popper " version?

I bought a couple myself, just waiting for the water to warm up a bit more.  I've already caught a few bass on poppers & spooks.  Just waiting for the weeds to pop up on the water surface to use the Bronzeye popper.

It is the best frog bait to hit the market yet. Can't say enough good things about it.Spro has got a real winner with this one.

Skip it into and under trees and hold on.Comes through cover great, and the variety of places it can be fished is limitless.

My best retrieve is a very sharp downward twitch which will make the bait spit, walk, and dance like crazy, though a subtle bloop, bloop, bloop will work too.

I picked up a couple, they're still sitting in the box though, but not for long.   ;D

They look good.  If they're anything like the original I'd say they'll work just fine.

Speaking of which, Spro is coming out with a jumbo frog soon.

I ordered a couple and can't wait to try them.

I got three different colors, but I haven't got anything on them yet, then again I haven't fished them a lot.

what makes these so much better than say.... the scum frog popper?  :-/

they cost twice as much.... and the "you get what you pay for" reason i am not sold on.... yet.... i have the scum frog and have done ok.

are they softer?  better hooks? if they really are that much better i will convert.  when i looked at both, i just didn't see that much difference.

The action of the scumfrog doesn't even begin to compare or even enter the same ballpark.Thats the difference. The scumfrog is more of a "blooper", pretty much a weedless hula popper, and it can't walk and spit worth a crap.

The Spro Frogs sit differently and their action is a lot different than the Scum Frogs.

One thing that helps with hook-ups is if you open the hooks up a bit.  They'll fill with water after a while so either cut a small hole in the rear or give them a squeeze every few casts or they'll begin to sink and hinder its walking ability.

The new Bronzeye Popper is an awesome bait!  It is a completely different design than the popping scumfrog.  The bait sits in the water differently and it walks way easier.  The action is alot more erratic which in my opinion triggers more strikes.  You have an endless color scheme to match the hatch if they are feeding on frogs or gills or shad.  The body is super soft so it collapses easier and once they are stuck with those stupid sharp dual Gamakatsu hooks, there is no chance of them coming off.

x2, scumfrogs aren't even in the same league. You can cast them a mile, the have a much better hook up ratio, and they have an awesome action.

I like the scumfrog poppers, but it sounds like these will be better. They are on the way, just bought two from BPS yesterday.

Haven't caught any fish on the spro popper yet, but I did try it out, now having used both the scum and spro popper, the spro's action is much better, due to the longer body of the spro it is so much easier to walk, there is a greater range of actions you can work the spro with. the scum frog has good action, but get a spro and you will notice a huge difference.

I have caught a few on the Spro poppers, There really, really good baits, however it will be a million years before they put the number of bass in the boat that the scum frog popper has for me over the years.

I have one rod setup with the Spro Popper and one setup with the scum frog popper. The difference really is that with the spro you can cast that thing a mile, it skips better, it walks better once you trim the legs, it always lands upright unlike the Scum Frog, it's easier to place it right where you want it and, although time will only tell, they seem to be built way better then the scum frog and therefor should last longer. However, one can not argue with the fact that the Scum Frog Popper is just one heck of a fish producer.

My advise, for whatever it's worth is to pick you up some Spro Poppers, but keep those Scum Frog Poppers tied on also. If on a tight budget, there is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking with the Scum Frog Popper for they will catch just as many bass, if not more then any frog I have ever used. Having both however will cover all the bases and make your frog fishing even more enjoyable.

As for colors, I like the rain forest black, midnight and leopard, but oh how I wish they had the Spro in the Natural-Green-Black of the Scum Frog for that is one killer color, the bass just love it.

Advice on the popper & the Bronze eye...bend the hooks up a bit, just enough that it is even w/ the top of the frog.  Doing this the frog doesn't have to compress as much for hook penetration.

Yeah these frogs are awsome man the bass just blast theses baits. Oh and I live in south florida just yesterday I had at least a 20 pound snook blast my black and yellow popper but I missed him. It scared the living s**t out of me lol

best color??

thanks for the info...

Leopard and midnight walker.  IMO, these are the two basics.  Everything else is just to jazz up your tackle box.
