About Us

The SMALL LAKE BASS CLUB is a group of anglers dedicated to the promotion of small boat tournament bass fishing on smaller lakes in the virginia area. Several years ago, numerous counties in virginia began to build reservoir's to supply water in times of drought. These reservoir's have now turned into some of the finest bass fishing "hot spots" Virgina has to offer. Many were stocked with the hybrid Florida strain because of their faster growth rate & aggressive nature. SMALL LAKE BASS CLUB caters to the "small boat" angler ( JOHN BOATS, CANOES, KAYAKS ect.) most of the lakes fished on do not permit gas motors and only electric motors are used. The yearly membership fee to join SMALL LAKE BASS CLUB is $35 which will make you eligable to fish in club tournaments and you will also recieve a club t-shirt and vehicle decal. If interested in joining go to members and click on the join site tab.You can create your own profile, upload pics, get involved in discussions and talk with other members! The site is free to join!

Are the tournaments catch photograph and release or are they actual weigh ins? I currently fish out of a kayak so keeping fish alive all day is somewhat problematic.

Yes its actual weigh-in...i guess there was not much interest in the canoe/kayak part of it so the club kinda drifted more toward jon boats. Most are just using a large cooler with a pump in it to keep fish. Your right kayak would be a little hard keeping 5 fish. Maybe you can look into small jon boat or canoe for around same price as a yak. Its a fun time.

Depending on your fishing style there is another club that fishes " No slot" lakes that just started up with bunch of good guys called River city Anglers maybe also check them out but are more dedicated to jon boats also. This club here fishes mostly slot lakes with a few no slot lakes in the mix.

Thanks for the response. I have thought about getting a john boat but i am somewhat addicted to the kayak part of fishing :) Cheaper to maintain, no registration, no trailer to tow and you get exercise all at the same time :)

I saw you guys out there on Diascund a few weeks back so i figured i would check out and see how kayak friendly the tournament format is towards kayaks. I saw the posted weights of the winners and ia mpretty sure i would have at least won or got second that day :) Anyways good luck out there and thanks again for the info

Nice!!! See you could have finished in the money! :wink2: That was only my 2nd time there so still kinda figuring things out there , but the guys from Little Creek Anglers who fish there all the time say the lake did not fish well that day for some reason. The very next week it took over 15lbs to win at Diascunds. I think 3 teams had 15lbs+ and handfull had 13-14lbs...
