dulouz Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I was just wondering if anyone had a general idea of when the bass might be spawning in east central iowa? The reason I ask is that I caught my first bass yesterday, several infact. They were pretty aggressive which surprised me, biting on cranks and spinnerbaits right up on the bank. So if anyone knows if it is pre, spawning time, or after... or if you have a way of telling when they do spawn let me know. Quote
Andy C Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 They will generally start to spawn around late april-mid may, and not all of the fish will be spawning at once. Smaller waters will generally be earlier than bigger lakes. Some of the best fishing of the year will be the next 3 weeks. Get out as much as possible. Quote
JBoz Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 In SW Iowa I was out on my local 700ac reservoir and caught a few shallow but most were piled up in 10 FOW staging for the push to the flats to feed before spawn. Water temps were 46 or so to start the weekend and yesterday we found a 55º bay.... I didn't do that well this weekend but, hopefully the good times are coming How big of a body of water were you on?
