Primus Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I had a very difficult time logging on to this website when the format changed. I was so irratated I gave up for good, the only reason I tried again is that another member was nice enough to add me as a friend so I tried again. The same password that I've been using the website refused to recognize, I thought this was an entertainment website instead of some top secret deal. I want it to be easy to log in not a pain in the you no what, because it wouldn't accept my password the site sent me a new one which is some crazy 14 digit number that I would never pick for myself. So when I went to the page that is meant for changing your password back to the one I wanted it wouldn't let me do it. Then when I went to the friend part of the website that part wouldn't work either. It looks like my particapation is going to have to be as a reader because I'm not typing in a 14 digit number every time. Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted April 4, 2011 Super User Posted April 4, 2011 Hmmmm, we're here without much difficulty. Go find an 8 year old kid to help ya log in . I say that with humor because I find kids these days are superior than most when it comes to computers. 1 Quote
Hamby Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 No offense, but sounds like user error. I'm sure it's something small you're overlooking and hopefully you can laugh at it when you figure it out. I know i made the mistake of typing in my display name. Luckily it also had the option for my email...otherwise i'd still be stuck at that same screen. Then i realized that i forgot my password a while ago and had it reset to some randomly generated one and had it saved, so i had to reset it again. This time of course i changed the password to a usual one. Quote

Why don't you just click the "Remember Me" box so you don't have to type the password every time? Quote
CSimon2 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 You can always cut and paste that 14 digit password. That is what I did and it worked fine. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 4, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 4, 2011 I'm sorry you had difficulties logging in. To be sure, it's been more difficult for some than others. The whole "username" vs "screen name" thing is throwing everyone a curve ball. But at least the password can easily be changed once you're logged in. To change your password: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/index.php?app=core&module=help Click "Your settings" Quote
endless Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I had the same problem as well but mine was as Glen said the username. Which reminds I need to change my password as well. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 4, 2011 Super User Posted April 4, 2011 When you try to log in/on, click on forgot password. It will include your username which is different from your screen name. The problem was not your password. The program does not recognize screen names or email address, in spite of the fact that it asks for them. From there, it's a simple matter to change your password back to what you have been using. By the by, I really like the "go to first unread post" feature. If the prior program had it, I did not realize it. I've been on other forums that had the feature, and always wished this forum had it. I'm getting used to this, and it will be fine once I make the adjustment. I'll echo what some of the other geezers have said. The new forum is not as old eyes friendly as the former, but it may be possible to customize the font to a larger or bolder format. It's only a "problem" when my eyes are tired. Right now, it's fine. Tonight, or if I've been on the computer for a while, it won't be so fine. Quote
moby bass Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I didn't know I had a user name and a screen name. Thought they were one and the same. Still don't know what my user name might be. Quote

Still don't know what my user name might be. It's possible they are the same. If you want to find out for sure, sign on, but don't include your password. Instead, click on "forgot password" or some such thing. You will get an email from the forum which includes your user name, and a new password. But, keep in mind, you'll have to log in using your user name, and new password. Then, you can go into your own info page and change it back to what you currently use. Quote
tholmes Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I had a devil of a time logging in too. I couldn't get it done at all over the weekend, but finally got it done this morning. I just chalk it up to "labor pains" while the new format is being born. It's all good now. Tom Quote
moby bass Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I did a password reset as well and I just went back to the email to see what my username was. I see there is an underscore between moby and bass. So I guess my username is the same, but different. Quote
zero limit Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Ya I had a hell of a time logging in too,I just went thru another format change on a local site that took me a couple of weeks to get use to Quote
GrundleLove Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I had issues and went through the whole process like you did, but it not find it difficult in the least. Maybe a small inconvenience but not aggravating I am Sofa King We Todd Did Quote
brushhoggin Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 i finally logged in with the same info that was getting denied the first 3 days after the big change. its not a user issue. something got fixed Quote
BassThumb Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 It looks like my particapation is going to have to be as a reader because I'm not typing in a 14 digit number every time. There's no need for that. You could just change the password to something reasonable. Click on your profile, under My Settings the option to Change Password is on the top left side of the screen. Quote
northern basser Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 It took me awhile to figure it out too. I was stubborn and kept at it. I'm getting better with computers, but I'm certainly no wiz. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted April 5, 2011 Super User Posted April 5, 2011 wasnt this topic about user name screen name/password brought up prior to the change over? Quote

I had a difficult time as well and had stopped trying but I kept getting emails from here so today or yesterday I came back and finally did the reset password thing. I had forgotten what my user name was, tried using the email address that I was clearly using to get emails from here and it still wouldn't work. Quote

I'm sure the troubles with actually logging in were just problems with the new system. He said he couldn't change his password to the one he wanted. I can't recall, but maybe it requires things like one upper case, lower case, and symbol with the new update. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I think Kudos need to go out to all the Mods. I was one that forgot my original user name I used when I signed up. When I logged on I could noly do it by my Facebook. Tried to change to my site name and it was used imagine that. Within an hour Keri had me back in. It may have caused us some problems during the transition but the Mods did a wonderful job getting things sorted out. It is OK to complain but give the Mods their just due. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I had the same issue but I went through the new password deal and found I had to type it in and not cut and past. Now they have to put up with me again. Quote
