tcstrick Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm looking around for a good rod to fish shakey heads with this spring. Any suggestions? I'm definitely looking for a 7 foot spinning rod. Quote
BobP Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I use a 6'8" Shimano Crucial dropshot rod and it works great. Think they also come in 7' size. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted April 4, 2011 Super User Posted April 4, 2011 Shimano Cumara 7'2" Med Xfast. They classify it as a Dropshot rod, but it really isn't a one trick pony. It fishes a shakey head quite well. I fish other plastics on either an Avid 6'8" Med Xfast, or Loomis 6-8 Med Hvy Xfast. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted April 4, 2011 Super User Posted April 4, 2011 Price range? The St Croix M and ML powers are usually good candidates and available at different price ranges. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Well, if you want the best, here you go: http://cgi.ebay.com/Shimano-Stella-2500-FE-G-Loomis-NRX-822S-SYR-Ceramics-/220764432942?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336695ea2e It may end up costing a fortune, but you won't be able to get the smile off your face while your using it. Super User Hooligan Posted April 4, 2011 Super User Posted April 4, 2011 Holy cow man. That would be a sweet rig to have. I'm wishing I'd never have bought an NRX, I want everything to be the same as them. Quote
tcstrick Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Well price isn't too much of an issue. I fish on a collegiate bass team and get pretty good prices from our sponsors Quote
Bass-a-holic Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Well price isn't too much of an issue. I fish on a collegiate bass team and get pretty good prices from our sponsors This is all you need: Dobyns DX 702SF (Med/Light) or DX 703SF (Med) with a Shimano Stradic CI4 Quote
philsoreel Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Shimano Cumara 7'2" Med Xfast. They classify it as a Dropshot rod, but it really isn't a one trick pony. It fishes a shakey head quite well. I fish other plastics on either an Avid 6'8" Med Xfast, or Loomis 6-8 Med Hvy Xfast. X2 for the Cumara 7'2" Medium XFast. Perfect for shakeyhead. Great tip for shaking and a surprisingly strong backbone that will cross their eyes on the hookset. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 8, 2011 Global Moderator Posted April 8, 2011 All the rods mentioned would work fine, just a matter of finding one that you like! Quote
