Any Pros Here?

I notice a lot of you folks use some high end tackle. I was just wondering, are any of you professional bass fisherman, big money tournaments etc.? Tackle wise, I guess I'm sort of low end to middle of the road.

what do you define as high end? to me its $600 and up combos.

There are MANY tournament fisherman on here but I'm not sure how many rely on it for a living. That being said, users of high end gear aren't always professionals and you can't judge the persons fishing strength based solely on his/her gear.

Most of us, IMO, are just enthusiasts who enjoy using higher end gear, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't get our butts whooped against someone who fishes low end gear.

I use $800+ combos for everyday fishing and 2 times a month for tournament fishing. BUT, I probably could not afford to fish these combos and make them last for several years if I was to fish a major tour and no sponsorship.

I take extremely good care of my rods/reels and know they would take a beating traveling and fishing 40 plus hours a week.

$600.- $800., yes, definitely out of my price range. My most expensive rig is about $300.

Gear doesn't make you a fisherman. Bass cannot tell the difference between an $800 outfit and a $300 outfit.

They call me a pro but I just take people fishing and get a check at the end of the day. I don't use high end gear. Just middle of the road. Dobyns Rods and Revo Reels.

I think people get confused thinking only tourney fisherman are professionals, guides and charter boat Captains are too. Personally I don't see the need for the recreational fisherman spending more on equipment that's needed. I spend about only $200 or so for a freshwater combo, more for saltwater but the elements and physical nature of the the fish demand a better quality.

My rigs run between $200-$300...mostly around the $200 mark. I wouldn't know what to do with anything more costly....neither would the fish.
