got bass? PA Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 i keep seeing commercials on versus about these baits and i looked up there website, they have some things that interest me. Especially the scent that smells like the hormones that minnows/other forage give off to alert each other when they are in danger and make the bass more enticed. I like the look of there frog and some worms. Have any of you guys tried them? Quote
Oscar O. Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I've tried them a couple of times, but without success. I'll probably give them another shot (they've got to be used eventually) when I get the chance to fish again. To me they just seem like Gulp! brand plastics, they even smell similar to me, but see if you can find a pack at a local store (a Sports Authority near me had a sale, that's why I tried them) and pick up your favorite style and color and see how it performs. To me that's the best way to see if a bait is worth it or not. Quote
moby bass Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 They did not work for me. Like Oscar, they have to get used eventually, so I will try them again but I'm not going to waste valuable time with them. I would pass them by. Quote
Shad_Master Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I picked some up at a bargain bin at Scheels last year - not only did they not work, the bag leaked and made my whole tackle bag stink. Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 All of our local tackle stores put them all on clearance and got rid of them. I never tried any of them but I did not hear very good things about them from anyone I talked to. SJ Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted April 3, 2011 Super User Posted April 3, 2011 I bought some tubes when they were on clearance at Wal-Mart last year. For $.50 they were great...for actual retail they are an absolute rip-off. The ones I bought were marked down from $7.99 and were only 4-6 in a pack. They tear really easily, dryout quick, and stink terribly. I had some success with them but nothing amazing compared to regular tubes. Quote
got bass? PA Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 4-6 in pack and $7.99! more expensive than most yamamoto baits and they work Quote
guitarkid Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 the old individualy wrapped baits were pretty bad. I have'nt tried the new kind. -gk Quote
Canga Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 i had a bag leak as well, what i did was buy a bottle of the trigger-x spray, and put it in my gulp alive tray thing, works really well. i have used the 3" walleye grubs with pretty good success, with both walleye and smallies. got a couple packs of tubes but havent had a chance to use them. the bass series doesnt have the liquid that the walleye series does and they dont smell nearly as bad. on the walleye site i post on i have heard pretty good things about trigger-x baits, here it seems different. not sure where you guys were seeing them for 7.99, they are usually around $5.50-6. Joe Terrazas Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Horrible baits, and a pain to store. I bought a couple of the Minnows and I got the tail bit off of one by a blue gill. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Yeah, not a big fan...I got some for free and have yet to get a bite on em'. I wouldnt buy these. Ill stick to Zoom, Strike-King, Berkley, BBB, and LFT for my plastics. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 You can buy em all day long here for $2 a pack at walmart. Even at that price i still don't see many movin off the shelf. I got a few of the back and bule chunk style trailers but my goodness do they stink!! Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 All of the Walmarts have them for 2 bucks a pack near me. I haven't tried them, hearing they are close to Gulp, and I do not care for Gulp (For bass fishing at least...). Quote
