Spinnerbaits!!!

2 years ago I really got started Bass fishing. I was throwing ONLY Senko Style baits,NOTHING else. Then I tried Baby Brush Hog Style baits with success,and thats all I ever threw. For some reason Im stuck on a spinnerbait now.

Not ordinary spinnerbaits,I only throw baits with Indiana Blades,and Luck E Strike Tricksters. Ok bait monkey,Whats gonna be next?

Anyone else find them selves comfortable throwing just one kind of bait,and not throwing ANYTHING else?

Not really.  I like to put together a "package deal" for the fish on a given day, using a primary, secondary, and follow up pattern.  Today, that package was spinnerbaits, followed by Senkos.  Yesterday, it was a black jig, and then a white jig.  Sunday it was shallow cranks, mid cranks and shaky heads.

Its good to see you moving on, and learning to use new baits.  Don't forget about the old ones though, some days they work better

    I am starting to throw only Senkos because that is the only thing I can get bass to even look at  .

That was pretty close to my pattern list for Sunday.  All our fish were on ledges that transitioned from 10-12 to 35 feet.  Started with a Fat Free Shad then got them on a Drop-shot and shakey head.

I can't say that I have enough confidence to just throw one bait.  It's gonna be a series of baits, then stick with what works until it doesn't and then change

i know what you mean.

seems like i always start (and stay with) a wacky worm now.  i may switch colors but i seem to stay wacky.  

i'll fish it different ways.  dead stick, slow retrieve, fast, even bringing it to the top.

i once was hung on the Yamamoto double tail hula grub.

before that it was an original rapala minnow.

My fish were closely associated with main lake points.  They only hit cranks that were cast perpendicular to the point, therefore the bait was only "in the zone" for a short time.  Once I caught a few fish at depth, I plied that depth with the shaky.

Incidentally, I have probably over used the DS in many situations, where a shaky would actually be more efficient in covering ground.  This year, I've been more aware of this if I am getting most bites while at rest at the bottom.

The DS is still my "go to" finesse rig.

I rarely throw one type of bait. I have a few rods rigged based on the type of lake I'm going to, anticipated weather patterns and seasonal considerations. That said I've been using primarily rattle baits, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, tubes & jigs this time of year. I live in SW Michigan the majority of the fish are still 3-4 weeks away from spawing in the lakes I fish, as we get closer to the spawn I'll be using a lot more soft plastics such as Senko's , Lizards etc. With regard to spinnerbaits as an example, I've done real well lately with this bait style in shallow weedy water, what I'll often do is come back and fish tha same area with a swimming jig or a Reaction Innovations Little Dipper to give the fish a different look. Every day on the water is different and I try to establish what's the primary depth and cover the fish are using, do they want horizontal, suspending, deadstick or vertical retrieves? I let the fish give me the feedback then I select bait styles that suit the application.

It's good to practice & stick with a bait until you feel comfortable and have confidence with it.  Use it on different bodies of water under different conditions and see what works best for you.  

I'm not married to any specific bait or technique.  I like the bait(s) that work on any given day.  After a few years of trying new baits/techniques you will have several things that you know you can catch fish with and have a lot more options which in the end will make you better.

Nope, Spring I have a Senko, a tube, a suspending jerk bail, a jig and trailer and a spinner bait it there is a breeze. Summer I put on a crank bait for the suspending jerk bait and might replace thr Senko with a Crig.

If you want to develop the feel for a bait in my experience: leave everything behind, forget everything else and stick to it until you consistently catch fish with that bait and them move on to the next one; that 's how I learned to fish everything in my T-box.

The only bait I 've always had problems of lack of consistency is buzzbaits, I know the bait is productive but I can 't make them work for me, I don 't know what 's the problem, but I can still try to figure them out ( conditions, location, presentation ) by sticking to them, heck, been doing it for the past two decades so a few more hours try won 't hurt, if I happen to live to my grandfathers age I still have another 40 years to try.

Do you only fish one body of water?

Fishing one bait exclusively sounds crazy to me. Despite what you think it is limiting your success.

I only fish one body of water. I do take 4 rods with me and have different stuff on each,but as of late,I have only been throwing Spinnerbaits. Guess that has to do with the wind. I have thrown a crazy legs chigger craw and caught a few,but I always revert back to a spinnerbait.

When i fish i bring 12 rigs. each has something different on it. my most recent confidence bait is an x rap xr10. but i would say if you need a need thing to try, a definate confidence bait for me is a big bite baits yo mamma(beaver style bait). they are versitile. but dont get hung up on one style bait at a time, you are flat out missing fish. sometimes you need a topwater,crank,or jerkbait when a spinnerbait just doesnt work at that time.

A buddy of mine, throws nothing but Fleck Weed Wader spinnerbaits

(1/4oz,  white) and does real well !
