I took off work around mid-day Friday and The Bait Monkey suggested

we hit Sportsmen's Warehouse to check out their "Final Days Sale".

We picked up a few shallow Lucky Craft crankbaits that I needed,

a few DD22's that I didn't and all GYCB favorite colors to add to my

lifetime collection. My "savings" were awesome, but it still cost me $158.

Now, that wasn't bad, but Sunday it got complicated. The Monkey says

to me, "Only a week to go, it's probably our last chance!" So, off

we go and low and behold, dudes were holding out on me! Sportsmen's

Warehouse put out the rest of their Senkos which at $3.60 a bag, I was

forced to buy. Surprisingly, The Monkey found a few more Lucky Craft

I needed, too!

Dude, let me tell you about the Bait Monkey over here. As you can imagine I don't have too many bills to pay while I'm deployed. No rent, no utilities, no gas for my truck. So with the money I'm saving I decided to get myself a couple of new rods. I start by ordering four Gblanks custom rods that I need. The next day I see that Kistler has last years models on sale, and I don't wan't all my new Gblanks to feel uncomfortable next to my old cheap rods, so I order a couple of Kistlers. Next, I see Tackle Warehouse has the Chronarch B on clearance and I need some reels for my new rods, so I ordered three of them. Finally, I realized that one of my new rods is a swimbait rod and I really don't have many swimbaits, so I ordered a bunch of Mattlures that I need. I need to redeploy before I need anything else.

The monkey made me buy a whole sack full of plastics last week. I stopped at my fav local tackle shop, just to get my license for 2009.

They had a very large box on the floor, full of Strike King 3X plastics, for a buck per bag. I spent 80 bucks on worms. Considering how long these things last, I may have just bought a lifetime supply.

I'm in Memphis this week.  Is this the final week of the sale?  If they are still open, I'll definately be making a visit to both stores.

The bait monkey is unstoppable.   I already bought 6 rods and  8 reels that I "needed" so far this year.  Any time there is a closeout sale all of a sudden I "need" something.   ;)

it's the Bait Monkey and "I"....... ;D

I dislike that little monkey....I have a feeling he is gonna demand that I buy 2 more rods this week and what ever else "I need"....

The Sportsmans Warehouse by me is about all sold out.  They didn't have anything worthwhile other than some hooks.  :'(

To make up for it, I went to Cabela's.  They have a big sale on fishing equipment.  30% off plastics, I think I got 40% off Suffix line, maybe 25% off cranks?  I just got some plastics, some jigs, and new line.  Was hoping they had a Citica in the bargain cave, but no luck.

Son of a....  BPS needs to have a sale or something similar to Cabelas.  The only deal I've seen in there recently has been like 20% off of Zoom plastics. I need to restock most of my terminal tackle soon.

Are you sure they're going out of business?  I checked the website and couldn't find a thing about it.  I've got one in my area that I'd make the trip to if they have some good deals.

Oh, the Bait Monkey...He caught up with me earlier this Spring. I picked up:

1 Curado 200E7

1 Symetre 2500

1 MH Crucial

1 MH Compre

New seat and pedestal

30 bags of plastics

15 cranks

20 jigs

2 1/4 spools of Yo-Zuri Hybrid

2 spools of Power-Pro

Stocked up on the basics: hooks, sinkers, jig heads

Misc. "needs" for the boat

If it weren't for the Compre/Symetre going to my wife, I may still be sleeping outside. I'm still working on her for a crankbait setup. ;)
