sodaksker Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 my best 5 smallies would have been close to 15 lbs. I did have this fun surprise..Took me about 4 minutes to get him to where I could see him Quote
J_Pearson Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Hey that last one was about the right color atleast! haha...Very nice looking fish! Makes me want to go chase some brown ones later this week.. JP Quote
RyneB Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Nice smallies, what was your technique? I wish a river here all the time for smallies and always seem to land a flathead or two, none of that size you caught. Gotta love river fishing. Me and a buddy were working a shallow island for smallies using rage craws. My buddy said he had a fish on. He fought it for 12 minutes and never once did we get to see the fish. It had his 7 foot flipping rod doubled over. We still have no clue what it was. The crazy thing was after the fish got away he reeled in his line and the hook never went through the craw. It was like the fish bit over the hook and craw and just had the weight. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 4, 2010 Super User Posted December 4, 2010 Hey sodaksker, those other brown fish have you fooled for a while even when you first see them because of the color. I had a 10.5lber fool the dickens out of me. Thought I had the new lake erie record on!Lots of fun but definitely a let down. Quote
lousyfisher Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I catch more catfish than bass it seems. Biggest was a 43" flathead that came out of weeds in 6' of water. What a fight. ;D Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 It was like the fish bit over the hook and craw and just had the weight. I had a similar experience this year. Rod in a beautiful 'U' and then it was like the fish decided the fight wasn't worth it and just opened its mouth. Depressing. Especially since fishing was very slow for me this year. (Just got back into fishing after a 23 year hiatus.) Quote
