It always makes me wonder. Was the smallie trying to have sex with that bait or was he trying to eat it?

I'm with you there Dwight, but if he was motivated by sex, wouldn't he be hooked some place else ?

Some Musky guys tell me they catch their biggest Smallies of the year on big inline spinners.

Smallies are nuts! That's why I love them so much. I've caught some really nice ones on big inline spinners. Even caught one on a Jointed X-Rap and a huge gliddin' rap fishing for Pike.

Every year I go up to a flowage in the UP of Michigan and musky fish and usually end up catching at least 4 or 5 monster smallies on musky lures. They will hit a large topwater or 9 inch jerkbaits LOL

I have never caught any smallies on musky baits but have had them come charging 10" suicks.  Now I have caught some nice largemouth on double 10's and 8" topwaters.

They will try and eat anything that is up to 75% of there length, especially this time of year when they are fattening up for winter!

Yep, that's a smallie alright! They are "aggressive".

Good thing they don't get too big... small children in the water would be in danger.  ;D

I had this little rambunctious LM hit a Maxrap this summer. He was only about 3 inches longer than my bait but he definitely tried to eat it. I about fling him out of the water on the hookset, poor guy never knew what hit him.  :D

That's neat. What an attitude.

I've been musky fishing SM water for decades. That happens at least once a year.

Just a few weeks ago I caught my pb sm on a large rubber swim bait. There is never any doubt when they strike. You know it's a sm.

Thanks for sharing.
