Big-O gave those of us on the roadtrip an inside look on the latest and greatest from Strike King and Rage Tail.

Some very very interesting baits are going to be hitting the market this year.  That's about all I can say.  One particular bait actually has me very excited.  That's certainly a first.

If you weren't on the water with Big-O, in the Kenlake Lodge lobby or in the Bayview building on Monday night, you're just going to have to wait.

Screw that, I can't wait to see the fish's reaction to them, especially the super secret bait.

Hey friends, really sorry about all of the "keep it quiet" stuff, but as you know I have to do just that. Was able to show some of the proto designs to our members there at Kentucky Lake and appreciated your responses. I also promise to show them here at BR first, just like last year because you guys and gals have been with me from the start.

Hopefully, I will have all of the back up info including variety of uses, hooks sizes and styles, weights etc. prior to launch. This should help with questions that might arise.

Again thanks for your patience and I am doing my best to make it worth your wait.... :o

Sorry, I can't keep a secret....

Wait till you guys see the new super secret, Rage Tail slip bobbers.  They are the bomb.

We also saw the latest Anaconda targeted at ice fishermen.

Don't bother. You'll never top the space monkey. Ever.

I had the week off.  I fished Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  I fished hardbaits only on the first three day.  Caught 3 bass (and some shad and pickerel) Sunday, a few more on Monday and Wednesday.  Had hard luck on hard baits on Saturday and switched over to Space Monkeys.  My son and I stopped counting bass at around 17.   Every bass we caught was on those silly looking space monkeys.

Wish I could have had the time to spend a day on the water with you.

Roland, I think there's one particular bait that you will find very very interesting.  Just wish I could tell you about it.

OK, I'll spill the beans.  I can't wait to fish that 3" Anaconda.

Are you serious?  A 3" anaconda sounds - interesting.

I was kinda hoping for a multi-colored space monkey - green pumpkin/pearl belly.   I'm friggin' sold on this bait.  I've fished it since Big-O sent us samples last year.  I had been fishing it weightless or with a pegged bullet weight.  But since I've started using Owner 4/0 1/8 oz weighted Twist Lock hooks, this bait really stands out even more.  It stays sumberged except on a very fast retrieve.  It sinks virtually horizontally.  The slightest forward movement imparts action.  And I've noticed a very subtle side to side action on these hooks I hadn't noticed on other hooks.   Hook-ups are effortless, suddenly, the fish is just there.

I'm just sorry I concentrated on hard baits so much earlier in the week.

Im really interested in these new baits. I have nott fished the rage tail baits yet, but went out and got some 10" anacondas for night fishing and deep fishing at Kentucky Lake.  Do you just fish the space monkey like a craw or creature?  Looks a little like a frog to me.

You can fish it any number of ways - like a frog, as a trailer, etc. Rigged as previously described, I like to swim it slowly just under the surface with periodic pauses so that is sinks a little.

Big O might shoot me but you guys deserve to know. The secret bait is called the Space Skunk. 4" long. Black with a white stripe down the back, 4 flapping legs and when you jig it, the tail wags up and emits a powerful scent. Caught the snot out of 'em but ran out. Big O didn't have any more samples.

Thanks again Big O.

Come on ColdwaterBassin....you promised you wouldn't say anything about our stinky little friend ;D And here we have Micro giving out the secrets of fishin' Space Monkeys on keel weighted hooks....isn't there anything sacred anymore ::o

For sure Micro, I often throw them the same way along with lobsters, craws, lizards and annies. Hard to beat keel weighted high action plastics over grass or in shallow water. Nice photos.

Are we really going to start this again this year?

I'm a big fan of Rage Tail stuff, but the entire "rage" on the second generation stuff (annies, etc) got old quickly when all most people could do was listen to other people (who were lucky enough to get them as samples) tell stories about them.
