BulletDon Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Object is to catch Quality, not necessarily quantity, bit consistant and what guide on the lake. Quote
Nine Miler Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Erie, or St. Clair- don't know any guides though. Quote
mi_basser Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I think you have to consider Burt, Mullet, Leelanau, Lake Charlevoix, and even Grand Traverse Bay as some of the best. I'm sure there are some more northern Michigan lakes I am missing, but you can't go wrong fishing for smallies in any of these. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 30, 2010 Super User Posted July 30, 2010 Lake Erie, St. Clair and Champlain. Pete Gluszek, professional fisherman and guide: http://www.petegluszek.com/ http://www.petegluszek.com/petegluszek_fishing_guide_rates.htm 8-) Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 30, 2010 Super User Posted July 30, 2010 Lake Michigan, Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin area. Consistant for big fish, and I believe they pulled more than one 7lb+ fish this spring during the big tourney they have every year. Quote
mako Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 St. Clair or Erie. Could go with Jon Bondy or Art Ferguson. Quote
backwater4 Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I'd say Erie is the top in the country. Close to NYC it has to be Candlewood. The size and quantity are extremely good, considering it's a zoo. I think Terry Baksay still guides here. Quote
Sfritr Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 For consistent numbers AND size either Erie or St. Clair. For a guide look at Gerry Gostenick. Excellent guide, pro fisherman, One of the best guides I have used. Great Lakes Bass.com Quote
Sfritr Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 oops thats greatlakesbassfishing.com sorry Quote
jenga Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 St. Clair is one of the best in the country. As of guides there gostnick is good but very expensive. Your best bet is to find someone to take you out. I would be more then happy to. Jenga Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted August 20, 2010 Super User Posted August 20, 2010 Everybody knows my answer!!! Falcon Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 21, 2010 Super User Posted August 21, 2010 Its close to home. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 21, 2010 Super User Posted August 21, 2010 Erie, St. Claire, Dale Hollow, Pickwick, and for one out west I would say Utah's Jordanelle. Have seen lots of 6 - 8 pounders come out of there. Quote
rlrsurveying Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I would not overlook Saginaw Bay in Michigan. Excellent fall fishing. We got two that broke 7lbs last fall and alot of 6lbers. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 25, 2010 Super User Posted August 25, 2010 Saginaw Bay is a good one too, and don't overlook the Shiawasee River that forms the Saginaw with the Flint. Quote
Bass Fisher55 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Erie, or St. Clair- don't know any guides though. Totally agree, finally picked up a boat this summer and caught three four pounders this year in Lake St. Clair. Quote
Nine Miler Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 55, if you go with any regularity, you will soon find out that 3 four pounders happen almost every time you go out. Quote
