Gorgebassman Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I have been fishing some swim baits for smallies here on the river and not had a bit of luck catching them on them. But yet I can turn around and throw a jig or a crank and catch fish have any of you guys had the same kind of luck. What type of swim bait are you catching smallies succesfully on? Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted July 31, 2010 Super User Posted July 31, 2010 6" Huddleston, 3:16 Wake Jr, Mattlures Hardgill, and big walking baits. Quote
Nine Miler Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Its a small swimbait by those standards, but the Roboworm EZ Shad. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted July 31, 2010 Super User Posted July 31, 2010 I've had some success with a 4 1/2" Bass Magic soft swimbait. Falcon Quote
Chris W Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I have had good luck on the 5" and 6" Basstrix Paddle Tail Swimbaits. Also on the Sebile Magic Swimmers in the 125 size. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted August 1, 2010 Super User Posted August 1, 2010 Peral white Zoom swimming fluke or a RI skinny dipper. Allen Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 1, 2010 Super User Posted August 1, 2010 Its a small swimbait by those standards, but the Roboworm EZ Shad. Cool looking bait - are you throwing these on a jig head or a swimbait hook? A Berkley Hollow Belly Swimbait (5 inch) on a 1/2 jig head was easily my best Fall bait last season ~ right into November in fact. A-Jay Quote

mako Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 If your fishing in the Great Lakes system check out these goby swimbaits from TYLURE. Haven't tried one yet, but they look pretty cool. http://independenttackle.com/tylure-kicker-goby-swimbait.html Quote
bigfruits Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 a cheap one that works good for me on shallow river smallies is the storm wild eye shad soft swimbait in 1/4oz (3.5in?) the 95 magic swimmer in white lady is one of my favorites. Quote
unageo09 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 From this morning. Another vote for the wild eye swim shad by Storm. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 13, 2010 Super User Posted August 13, 2010 GYCB Swim Senko 8-) Quote
zero Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 GYCB Swim Senko 8-) in 4 inch and 5 inches works best for me Quote
Scorpio Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I don't have much luck with swim baits for smallies in the rivers I fish, although the Swim Senkos have worked to a small degree. Maybe swimbait success for smallies is a lake thing? Quote
