I leave for canada on the 31st for a four day trip. I went with my buddy and his family last year and we did really well on pike and walleye, but those guys weren't really interested in fishing for smallmouth. This year I would like to target some smallie since I love bassin and I know thier there, do you guys have any tips. The place were fishing is lake Vaughn I think its a backwater area of lynx lake.

Thanks guys

Canada is a big place. We could use more specifics on the location. I've fished Ontario for years but don't have a clue as to Lynx Lake.

Senko's, Grubs & Tubes are my go to's . If the smallies aren't shallow go to the first drop off and try deeper. There should be a decent surface bite early and late in the day. Pop-R' and original Rapala's work well.

just saw this today...sorry if you have already left.

my experience around Huntsville has been in basically small dishpan lakes with very little cover. fish every piece of everything you can see. natural colours. I started small (on rec. of a local) and sized up as I fished. tubes, senkos, grubs. topwaters were not good for us but I fished 'em hard 'cause I love fishing them. NBR gave you a good starting point.
