Anyone ever successful with true floating worms?

I came across a package of BRIGHT PINK (AND I DO MEAN BRIGHT) Rattlesnake  brand Floating worms recently. Ive never tried them but have examined how they acted in my 55 Gallon Aquarium T-rigged and wacky rigged. I like the action of both. Wondering if anyone has ever used true floating worms with any success and what are the best presentations and rigging options. Deep water or Shallow water? Can anyone school me on the ins and outs of this neat looking bait.

I've had decent success Carolina Rigged both Fliptail Floating Lizards & Danny Joe Original Floater worms but with their limited availability it's is kind of hard to get excited about.

The only "floating" worm I have seen that truly floats is the Rattlesnake brand. Danny Joe's Original "Floater" worms do not and it states on the package label that they do not actually float. The Rattlesnake worms won't float with a hook inserted but have the slowest fall rate of all the so called floating worms. I use them in surface vegetation Tx rigged with no weight. The red label Strike King 3X baits will float with a hook and work well on Carolina Rigs but are not available in the 7" or 8" worms.

I think most people that have tried them have had success with them.

Zoom Trick worms will float with the right hook. Strike Kings 3x baits float except the Zero and Z-Too. Good option when you want to twitch a worm over grass or want your bait to stand up on the bottom.

Most floating worms do not float but when at rest the tail will stand up; Fliptail Floating Lizards will float a 3/0 hook.

Gene Larew Floating Series will also float a finesse hook

Floating or not floating, or somewhat floating - what do you really think about those audacious colors! Like chartreuse or merthiolate (bright red-orange)? I bought some of these packaged under the name of Shaw Grisby. Have used them on a shakey head a few times, but never caught anything.

Ive done a little research and read that floating worms in those crazy bright colors work well on Bedding Fish when sight fishing,and when the fish are on a topwater bite. Im going out tomorrow to try my floating Rattlesnake worms on the bottom T Rigged. Wish me luck.

I love floating worms!

And you can catch some real giants on them. I like a dark yellow or a clear bright pink, they seem to work the best.And believe it or not I like it when they don't float, most of my strikes happen when the worm falls just out of sight.

They are a deadly tool for LM bass, learn how to use them.

For the record, Zoom Trick Worms don't float.  Ever.  Hook or no hook.

But I still love 'em.

Luck-E-Strike, however, actually produces a true floating worm.  You can buy their "kits" at Wal-Mart for a little of nothing.

I actually heard a funny story the other day.  A guy put an AB Floater on a 1/8 oz shakey head, and he couldn't feel anything.  His whole rig was suspended about 5 feet off the bottom.     LOL

I'm a huge fan of Gambler's floating worms.  There have been many years where my first bass of the season has come on an unweighted, t-rigged Gambler floating worm.  A swivel and leader help with the line twist.

Went out Monday and threw my Bubblegum Flaoting worms. Hooked up with one,I then moved to another spot and got 2 bites but missed em,I followed up with a Spinnerbait and hooked up. It started to get windy so the worm went away and the spinnerbait was thrown the rest of the day.

I now know floating worms DO work and am gonna try one out tomorrow on a Florida rig hooked Wacky Style.

I still use them when I am covering alot of water but still want to use a floating worm.  After I get dialed into the type of cover the fish are utilizing I usually switch to a Haw River floating worm.  They sink much slower and are softer so they "dance" better.  Most of my bites come just as it sinks out of sight.  

I lost one (wrapped me around a dock piling) sunday that was between 4 and 5lbs on a Lime/ white Haw River floating worm.

Berkley powerworms float, I use them alot bed fishing on a shakyhead and they will float up nicely.
