jerebro Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I have searched nearly everywhere I know to look for a small suspending rapalla. Size 4 , I met a guy that fishes where I do reguarly and have seen him catch numerous nice sized smallies with it. He said it was years old but it works awesome! Any suggestions. The size is really important. I dint mind if it is rapalla name brand, just want that type of bait. Quote
NateFollmer Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Got a photo or a better description? Does it look more like a traditional jerkbait (long and slender minnow style) or is it more like an X-rap or crankbait style? I have some great suspending rapala's that look like crankbaits that I use like jerks and they are about a size 4 or smaller... Quote
jerebro Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 I don't have a picture, however, it looks more like a minnow, slender with two treble hooks. This guy removed the front treble hook that came on it originally and replaced it with the next bigger size. He said it mahes the head kind of stay closer to the bottom while it is suspending, making it seem injured. Quote
bear7625 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Need more info! It could be a small countdown, husky jerk, or x-rap. http://www.rapala.com/products/lures/ Quote
NateFollmer Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 http://www.rapala.com/products/lures/x-rap/ Get those, I use all the sizes for smallies. The XR06 is really good when they are sluggish (post spawn or winter), but I use all the sizes any other times. Best colors for smallies for me are Glass Ghost, Silver and Olive Green. But again, you'll have to figure out what types of forage your body of water has and match accordingly. I know Raindow Trout works awesome in rivers that have trout, but my main rivers don't, so they are useless haha. Quote
