My brother and I will be on a "family" vacation next weekend w/ our women-folk in Sevierville / Pigeon Forge TN area and I was wondering if anybody here has ever packed the waders and a pole and met w/ any success.

I fish smallies in central KY and love to wade creeks and can't help but think that my brother and I could buy a TN license and spare ourselves at least one afternoon at the outlet mall.

What streams are close within 20 minute drive or so w/ public access? Also, maybe an outfitter you've had luck with? Although I'd rather find a good spot myself without that expense.

Anything would be appreciated.

I have seen people fishing in the stream that flowing between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Have also seen the fishing from the Sugarland Visitor Center around to Cades Cove where you can get down to the water.

Fish the Little Pigeon through twon, basically anywhere near a bridge will have some good water.  i used to use trick worms rigged weghtless, senkos would get the same effect.  Great smallie water, especially for numbers.

Thx for the tip,

what do you mean exactly by "fish through twon"

I just wanted to post a photo of the smallie I caught a couple weeks ago while wading downstream from the Sevierville City Park in the Pigeon Forge, TN area. I started this post asking for some fishing advice for my brother and I before we left. We were forced to accompany the women-folk to Pigeon Forge and decided to buy a 3 day license and do a little fishing while the girls hit the outlet malls.

Who would've guessed I would land my personal best smallie! Over 18 inches! But of course, I didn't take my scales!!!! (New rule, always bring the scales)

I'm guessing between 3 and a half and 4 lbs.

T-rigged Smallie Sweet Beaver Red w/ Black Flk. #2 Extra wide gap. The best part was that I got to see her actually hit the bait about 10 feet in front of me in 18 inches of water!!!  What a rush.

I love this forum.

Thanks so much everybody for all the good advice.

Congrats on your new PB!

Nice fish and congrats!  That river is a great urban(ish) fishery that  hardly anyone uses!

It should be hot enough by now to ditch the waders and wade wet. Much more comfortable.

Nice fish, too! 8-)
